Anthony Rizzo’s baseball career is set to take a new turn in 2026. The longtime fan favorite and former World Series champion will transition from the field to the studio as an analyst, bringing his experience, personality, and insight to a new role that keeps him firmly connected to the game.

In a report from Sports Business Journal, Rizzo is scheduled to join NBC as a lead analyst. He will be discussing games along side host Bob Costas. In 2026, NBC will have Sunday Night Baseball broadcasts, televise Opening Day games, and will air contests in the post season.

Rizzo’s move to the booth signals NBC’s intent to lean heavily on recognizable, respected voices as it reenters MLB coverage in a major way.

NBC is set to hire former MLBer Anthony Rizzo as one of its lead MLB studio analysts this season, sources tell SBJ.

The network is also close to a deal with Clayton Kershaw for limited analyst work, sometimes alongside Bob Costas.

Known throughout his career for his leadership and professionalism with the media, Rizzo is expected to provide great insight on the game from a recent former player’s perspective. It’s entirely possible that Rizzo could quickly establish himself as one of baseball’s most trusted on-air voices as the network ushers in a new era of national broadcasts.

Interestingly, Rizzo reportedly has received an invite to play in the World Baseball Classic for Team Italy this spring. This means it’s entirely possible that he takes the field one more time before joining the booth.
