The Chicago Bears need the offensive line to be productive in cold conditions at Soldier Field on Sunday night.

More News: Bears already have Ian Cunningham’s replacement in mind

The Bears are set to face the league’s 11th-best run defense when they play the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round.

Earlier this week, Bears head coach Ben Johnson suggested the team needed to be better in the run game this week.

“Yeah, it feels like it’s dipped a little bit,” Johnson said. Not something that we certainly want. Certainly, late in the season, we wanted that to pick up, playoffs, weather games like this, you certainly want to be able to lean on your run game. So those are some elements we’re looking at. What can we do to help ignite that?

“It’s both efficient runs to stay on track and ahead of the chains, and also explosive runs as well. Where can we find a few of those?”

Chicago Bears could make big twist

More News: Bears: Weather looks nastier now for Rams game

The Bears offensive line is expected to face challenges with left tackle Ozzy Trapilo going on injured reserve this week after suffering a knee injury late in the win over the Packers.

Per Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, the Bears could be looking to switch left guard Joe Thuney to left tackle against the Rams. He was moved to left tackle during the Kansas City Chiefs run to the Super Bowl last season.

If Thuney moves to left tackle, Adam Jahns of CHGO suggested Jordan McFadden could start at left guard.

“As @BradBiggs said, the Bears are looking at moving Joe Thuney to left tackle with Ozzy Trapilo out,” Jahns posted. “My understanding is that left guard options start with Jordan McFadden. So the Bears line could be: Thuney-McFadden-Dalman-Jackson-Wright vs the Rams on Sunday.

McFadden, a 2023 fifth-round pick by the Los Angeles Chargers, has appeared in seven games for the Bears this season. He has started in two games during his three-year career.
