Chicago Cubs promote Garrett Chiado as new assistant general manager
The Chicago Cubs have continued reshaping their front office for the 2026 season with another notable internal promotion. Now, Garrett Chiado, who previously worked in the strategy and analytic departments, has the a new title of assistant general manager.

Chiado, who has been with the organization since 2016, is now in one of the club’s top executive roles after working his way up through the Cubs’ analytics and strategy departments. He previously served as Director, Pro Strategy and Director, Pro Analytics, roles that saw him deeply involved in player evaluation and acquisition planning.
In his new position, Chiado will oversee Pro Acquisitions and work closely with President of Baseball Operations Jed Hoyer and General Manager Carter Hawkins on broad organizational strategy and roster shaping initiatives. His promotion adds to a trio of assistant GMs in Chicago, joining Jared Banner and Ehsan Bokhari in those ranks as the front office expands its operational depth.
The promotions come amid an offseason where the Cubs haven’t just focused on their lineup and pitching staff, but have deliberately invested in the leadership shaping those baseball decisions. By elevating key operators like Chiado, Chicago aims to ensure continuity, diversified thinking, and strategic depth as it pursues a return to championship contention.
