Tom Brady doesn’t hold back about Bears TE Colston Loveland
When the Chicago Bears selected tight end Colston Loveland out of Michigan with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, many analysts felt that the team had made a major mistake.
On the board at the time was Penn State standout tight end Tyler Warren. Most believed that he was the better prospect.
Despite the criticism that the Bears received at the time, Loveland has proved them right. He has been a perfect fit alongside of second-year quarterback Caleb Williams and his future looks incredibly bright in Chicago.
In the season finale at home against the Detroit Lions, the Bears ended up losing by a final score of 19-16 on a field goal as time expired. Even though the team lost, Chicago was helped out by the Washington Commanders who beat the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, the Bears will gear up for a Wild Card matchup against the Green Bay Packers.
Loveland put on a strong performance. He caught 10 passes for 91 yards and a touchdown in the loss.
Tom Brady, who was calling the game for Fox, spoke out and didn’t hold back about the rookie tight end. He believes that Loveland is comparable to his longtime tight end Rob Gronkowski.
“He’s like a mini Gronk,” Brady said.
Having an NFL legend like Brady speak out with such high praise shows just how talented Loveland is and what he’s capable of becoming in the future.
With the regular season coming to an end, Loveland finishes his rookie campaign with 58 receptions for 713 yards and six touchdowns. Those numbers showcased exactly why the Bears had such believe in the young tight end.
Hopefully, Loveland is able to be a big part of a long postseason run for Chicago. Next week, the journey will begin in the playoffs against the arch-rival Packers.
