Chicago White Sox GM discusses when we will see new prospect in the majors
The Chicago White Sox have been aggressive in making moves throughout the offseason in an attempt to jumpstart the 2026 team. They have made a trade on Sunday to add two pitchers to the franchise from the Boston Red Sox and improve the team as a whole. Let’s take a closer look at what the team’s general manager said regarding when we can see the key piece of the trade in the major leagues.
The Chicago White Sox expect to see David Sandlin in the majors during the 2026 season
White Sox general manager Chris Getz discussed when he predicts new prospect starting pitcher David Sandlin will be on the mound for the big league club.
“He’s got a chance to really impact our starting rotation this year.”
In a tweet earlier, Bob Nightengale mentioned we could see him in the starting rotation at some point during the summer. Sandlin was drafted in the 11th round of the 2022 MLB Draft by the Kansas City Royals from the Oklahoma Sooners. He has pitched four years in the minor leagues thus far in his career, including getting to Triple-A towards the end of the 2025 season. Sandlin has pitched 65 games (47 starts) throughout his minor league career and is 13-12 with a 4.38 ERA and a .257 opposing batting average in 232.0 innings. He has been able toget strikeouts though, recording 279 strikeouts in that span.
The starting rotation for the White Sox at this point, according to Fangraphs, is as follows:
- Shane Smith
- Davis Martin
- Sean Burke
- Anthony Kay
- Sean Newcomb
The White Sox have been able to make moves throughout the offseason. While also adding a veteran pitcher in Jordan Hicks to add to the bullpen, it will be intriguing to see when Sandlin will make his MLB debut.
