The Chicago Bulls have been one of the most active teams ahead of the NBA trade deadline, making a lot of deals to acquire future assets while stripping the team down for the 2025-26 season. However, they have made a move early Thursday morning that will impact the depth of the team in a trade with the New York Knicks. ESPN’s Shams Charania is reporting that the Bulls are acquiring forward Guerschon Yabusele from the Knicks in exchange for guard Dalen Terry. Chicago has a lot of players in their backcourt, so they were able to swap one of them in exchange for a player in the frontcourt. Yabusele has played 41 games off the bench for the Knicks this season after playing with the Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics throughout his NBA career. He averages 14.8 minutes and records 5.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 0.4 steals per game.
Yabusele has spent time overseas, where he was able to play in many different leagues and win games. He would play overseas from 2019 to 2024 before returning to the NBA last season. This is going to be a strong depth piece to add to the Bulls. He will be coming off the bench to help relieve either power forward Matas Buzelis or center Jalen Smith.
In order to land him, Chicago needed to trade away Terry, who spent the last four years with the franchise. He played 34 games this season off the bench and in 11.1 minutes, he is averaging 3.5 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 0.6 steals per game. With all the guards on the roster, this is a chance for the Bulls to get some more size.
