NFL teams have eyes on Chicago Bears defensive lineman per report
The Chicago Bears have some big needs on the defensive side of the ball going into this offseason on all three levels. The Bears are likely going to be moving on from Tremaine Edmunds, suffering a big loss on their defense and creating another need.
One of the biggest needs comes on the defensive line where they need to find some pass rushers as well as guys who can disrupt the game.
But there’s a chance they could completely re-tool that line and move on from some players they invested in. The latest rumor suggests that the Bears will have the chance to do that.
Chicago Bears taking calls for Gervon Dexter?
With the NFL Scouting Combine underway in Indianapolis, the rumors and reports are starting to come in fast. The latest from Indianapolis that is connected to the Bears comes from Jordan Schultz.
On Thursday, Schultz reported that teams have inquired with the Bears about trading for defensive tackle Gervon Dexter. The reason? The free-agent market and draft class at the position are not very deep.

The Bears selected Dexter in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He’s going into the final year of his four-year rookie deal and while there has been some promise, the Bears are waiting for the potential to fully develop. As of now, it’s hard to say the Bears would give Dexter a new contract after this season. But do they want to create another need?
With this not being a deep draft or free agent class at defensive tackle, the options are limited. So why create another need especially when Dexter isn’t expensive, costing them just $2 million against the salary cap.
The Bears did draft Shemar Turner in 2025 but he suffered an injury in the offseason and then another during the season that cost him key playing time. So the Bears’ depth isn’t very good either.
