Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is trying to take care of a few business ideas during the offseason, and he recently got into a run-in with Skip Bayless.

Williams earned the nickname “Iceman” for his heroics late in the regular season and playoffs when he made a few miracle passes late in the fourth quarter. He filed paperwork to trademark the name “Iceman” that would help the quarterback to sell merchandise related to the term and other logos.

Bayless took issue with Williams trying to trademark “Iceman” because that nickname belonged to former NBA player George Gervin, who spent time with the Chicago Bulls.

“I’m a Caleb Williams fan,” Bayless posted on X. “But I was a much bigger Iceman Gervin fan, and I’m offended Caleb and Co. are trying to steal George’s all-time great nickname. I unleash on today’s Arena Gridiron 2:30 E.”

Williams sent a blistering reply to Bayless, suggesting the “steal” accusation was a bridge too far for the Bears quarterback.

“Idc about where your fandom stands,” Williams posted on X. “I was trying give you and everyone else the benefit of the doubt. About knowing business and being smart about it. But I guess not. Foolish of me! Also words matter Skip Bayless. “Steal” Enjoy that podcast.”

Williams sent a screenshot with the definition of “steal”: To take the property of another wrongfully and
especially as a habitual or regular practice.

It’ll be interesting to see if Williams is able to win the trademark for the term. Gervin is trying to block Williams from winning the trademark and filed his own application for the trademark.

If Gervin had known business, he would have filed the trademark long before Williams earned the nickname for his play during the winter.

As it stands, Williams is clearly the better Iceman when it comes to business.
