Chicago Bears predicted to make curious move to replace DJ Moore

Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore

Last week, the Chicago Bears traded DJ Moore and a 2026 fifth-round pick to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick.

More News: Raiders’ Maxx Crosby wants to join Bears

The move saved the Bears nearly $44 million over the next two seasons at a position that already has talent like Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III.

In addition to a receiver, the Bears have tight ends Colston Loveland (who led the team in receiving in 2025) and Cole Kmet.

Chicago has obvious needs on the offensive line, defensive line, and the secondary heading into the 2026 NFL Draft. (The Bears could arguably use an upgrade at running back.)

However, Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt thinks the Bears might pull a draft night surprise by going for a big-bodied receiver to replace Moore with the No. 25 pick. He named Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson as Chicago’s pick in his most recent mock draft after the first wave of free agency.

“They got a second-round pick back from Buffalo,” Klatt said of the Bears. “They can grab a replacement right here on the outside. How about Jordyn Tyson from Arizona State? I like that Jordyn Tyson is a big body guy. I love him.

“You can team him up with Rome Odunze and Colson Loveland for (quarterback) Caleb Williams and (head coach) Ben Johnson’s offense. I like the idea of big targets for Caleb Williams because you remember Caleb is going to improvise. He played within the structure of the offense better than he has in his career this last year.”

Do the Chicago Bears need to draft a WR in the 1st round?

Moore was key in the Bears’ two wins over the Green Bay Packers, catching the game-winning touchdown to win in the wild-card round. His size was definitely a factor in those wins.

Tyson recorded 61 receptions for 711 yards and eight touchdowns last season. The six-foot-two, 200-pound receiver recorded 75 receptions for 1,101 yards in 2024.

With Olamide Zaccheaus signing with the Atlanta Falcons in free agency, the Bears do have a need for a receiver this offseason. Tyson would come to the Bears much cheaper than what Moore would have cost, though the team would be boosting a position that isn’t as needed as the trenches or secondary.
