The Chicago Cubs have been one of the best teams in adding talent this offseason. As a result, their lineup is projected to be one of the premier lineups in the sport. But where does it rank among the rest of Major League Baseball? Let’s take a closer look into where one outlet believes the team’s lineup ranks.
Bleacher Report ranks the Chicago Cubs lineup outside of the top five in MLB
Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter wrote an article power ranking all 30 MLB lineups. While he had the Cubs listed high, they were outside of the top five in sixth place. Below is the snippet he provided to discuss Chicago’s lineup:
“With Kyle Tucker gone and Alex Bregman now manning third base, the Cubs will have a different look this season, but all the pieces are still there for them to be an elite offense. Moises Ballesteros will get a shot at everyday playing time in the DH role, and his 60-hit, 55-power offensive profile could mean another impact bat.”
To understand his thinking, below are the five teams he listed ahead of the Cubs:
- Los Angeles Dodgers
- Toronto Blue Jays
- New York Mets
- Athletics
- New York Yankees
This is not the only outlet that loves what the lineup looks like. The Cubs added a few new hitters to their 26-man roster in Alex Bregman, Michael Conforto, Scott Kingery, and Dylan Carlson. Even without Tucker on the team, this lineup should be one of the best in the sport. They have some solid hitters and need players like Pete Crow-Armstrong and Nico Hoerner to continue showing improvement.
Just as Reuter mentioned, Ballesteros is one of the more interesting hitters, but could also struggle as almost every young hitter does. It will be intriguing to see if they can crack the top five as the season goes along.
