Former Chicago Bears linebacker has new home after getting deal in NFC
The Chicago Bears were in a tough cap position this offseason, forcing them to have to make some decisions in terms of key players. One of those players was linebacker Tremaine Edmunds.
After the team granted him permission to seek a trade, they couldn’t find a deal. Edmunds was then released and now, he has a new home and it’s to a team that was rumored to be interested in him early on.
New York Giants land Chicago Bears linebacker
Per Mike Garafolo, the New York Giants are signing linebacker Tremaine Edmunds to a three-year deal worth $36 million. That’s $12 million per year for Edmunds who is coming off a big season for the Bears.

Edmunds finished the 2025 season playing in 13 games with 4 interceptions, 112 total tackles and 3 tackles for a loss. He was having a Pro Bowl type of season before suffering an injury that cost him to miss four games.
For the Bears, they just couldn’t work through Edmunds cap hit in terms of keeping him around. Ideally, they wanted to keep him but it was just too much due to their cap situation.
They did land Devin Bush, however as they gave the linebacker a three-year deal worth $30 million in free agency. Bush might actually be a better fit in Dennis Allen’s system as well.
For Edmunds, he joins the Giants under John Harbaugh as the franchise looks to rebuild. Edmunds also drew interest from the Carolina Panthers as well.
