REPORT: Las Vegas Raiders’ price for Maxx Crosby is still too high for Chicago Bears
The biggest news story of the free agent cycle was the failed trade of Maxx Crosby from the Las Vegas Raiders to the Baltimore Ravens. After Baltimore agreed to trade two first-round picks for Crosby, they brought him in to check the medicals.
In the end, they backed out of the trade ahead of the new league year.
Crosby returned to Las Vegas where he was there the next morning to get his rehab in for his injury and appears to be committed to the Raiders. He even did a podcast to break down the situation. But that doesn’t mean teams aren’t interested still.
For now, Crosby is still a member of the Raiders. But a new report on Tuesday states that teams are still inquiring about the star pass rusher. The price is just too high still.
Price is likely too high for Chicago Bears with Maxx Crosby
As we are two weeks past the start of free agency, Ryan McFadden of ESPN provided an update on the Crosby situation:
“Teams continue to check in on his availability,” McFadden writes, “but as of now, the Raiders’ asking price to trade Crosby’s contract remains high.”
That confirms an earlier report that stated the Raiders did not want to lower the price despite concerns about the knee. The Raiders want to stay firm with the price which is why he hasn’t been moved yet.
For the Chicago Bears, general manager Ryan Poles admitted that the team was involved in a way with Crosby. But reading between the lines, it makes sense that Poles didn’t get fully involved in terms of the price. Paying two first-round picks for Crosby may not be the smartest decision for the Bears who have many needs.
As long as the price stays the same from the Raiders, don’t expect Chicago to get involved again.
