A Silly Mock Draft: 32 Picks in One Class!

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Every year during draft week I do a mock using one of the popular simulators and see how silly I can make it.

The rule:  I can only trade with teams that offer interest when I pick.  No forcing of trades.

The goal:  Get as many picks as possible.

This year I chose the Pro Football Focus Mock Draft Simulator, which not only offers trades but also grades my draft!  It’s gained a lot in popularity since it dropped on the internet and many people are trying their best to get the perfect draft.

I’m not.

Instead…well, you can see the results below:

Oh.. well I got an “A” anyway.  How about that.

Yes, that is a total of 32 picks in one draft.  A full round. Picking higher than usual in Round 1 helped with the total.

Here’s the breakdown of my haul by position:

2 Quarterbacks

Cole Payton is my sleeper QB2 in this draft.

3 Wide Receivers

Sarratt is being slept on a bit as well.

4 Tight Ends

You’re welcome, Declan Doyle.

2 Running Backs

PFF didn’t seem enthusiastic here.

1 Fullback

Because I have 32 friggin’ picks.

2 Offensive Tackles

And one that can kick inside in Parker.

2 Offensive Guards

And two of the top five at that.

3 Centers

One of ’em has got to work right?

3 Defensive Linemen

But waited until Round 5.

2 EDGE

Maybe I’m skimping on this, but I really like Jacas.

3 Linebackers

That complement each other.

4 Cornerbacks

Because – say it with me – you can never have enough

1 Safety

Hey, I got four corners, what do you want from me?

If it’s any consolation, most of those players are ones I’m keeping an eye on in a few days.  Maybe a couple of them will actually land in Baltimore; who knows?  I’d be kind of disappointed if I don’t get at least one right!

The moral of the story is, don’t count on mocks and public draft boards to judge your team’s draft.  Don’t overreact to them “reaching” for a player, and try not to proclaim theirs the best draft in the universe until at least Training Camp.

I had fun with that. Give it a try, see how you do! Let me know in the comments.
