The Chicago Bulls are in a weird spot as a team, as they are losing a bunch of games and not finding ways to walk off the court victorious. Chicago pulled the plug on the season at the trade deadline and acquired picks/young players to build for the future. One outlet was able to describe the Bulls’ season with a singular word, so let’s take a look at what word was used and why.
Bleacher Report calls the Chicago Bulls ‘tardy’
Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley wrote an article where he described each NBA team with one word. For the Bulls, Buckley used the word ‘tardy’, explaining it is due to pivoting to rebuilding towards the middle of the season. Below is what he wrote regarding Chicago:
“After logging an inordinate, unforgivable amount of mileage on the dreaded treadmill of mediocrity, the Bulls finally bolted off of it at the deadline and made “a meaningful shift” toward long-term rebuilding, as executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnišovas told reporters.
“It’s been a tank-tastic journey ever since—5-14 since the All-Star break—but in the eyes of the lottery odds, it could very well be remembered as too little, too late. This unpunctual plug-pulling left Chicago racing toward the bottom after giving all either future-focused franchises a monthslong headstart. This draft class might be rich with star-level prospects, but the Bulls will need an awful lot of lottery luck to be in position to grab a blue-chipper.”
With Chicago getting more ping-pong balls in the lottery, the team is struggling to find wins late in the season. With the team eliminated from postseason contention, it will be intriguing to see which players are able to play to be part of the roster next season.
