Chicago White Sox announce roster move before Blue Jays game
The Chicago White Sox have shown some resilience in the past couple of ballgames and will try to sweep the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday.

Before Sunday’s contest, the White Sox announced that outfielder Everson Pereira was placed on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to April 2) with a left ankle sprain. To take Pereira’s place on the roster, the White Sox are calling up infielder Tanner Murray from Triple-A.
Murray, 26, is not one of the White Sox’s top prospects. Despite not being a prospect, Murray has gotten off to a hot start to the season.
Through six games, Murray is batting .304 with a 1.075 OPS with two home runs and seven RBI. However, Murray had a down year in 2025, batting .241 with a .700 OPS in 137 games.

Murray will be in the lineup for Sunday’s series finale versus the Blue Jays. Murray will be batting seventh and is playing shortstop for Colson Montgomery, who gets the day off.

A former fourth-round pick of the Tampa Bay Rays, Murray came over with Pereira in a trade with the Rays. The White Sox sent right-handers Steven Wilson and Yoendrys Gomez to the Rays as the return package.
Murray should add a little more pop and contact to the lineup, setting career-highs in home runs (18) and tying his career-high in doubles (29). He is also a .275 career hitter in the minor leagues.
