Chicago White Sox call up No. 9 prospect amid Rays series
After the Chicago White Sox dropped the first game of the series to the Tampa Bay Rays, they decided to make another change to the roster. After calling up top pitching prospect Noah Schultz to pitch on Tuesday, the White Sox have now called up top prospect Sam Antonacci.
According to the White Sox on X, Antonacci’s contract was selected from Triple-A Charlotte. The White Sox also recalled left-hander Tyler Gilbert from Triple-A, along with Antonacci.

To make room for both Gilbert and Antonacci on the roster, the White Sox optioned left-hander Brandon Eisert to Triple-A and designated outfielder Dustin Harris for assignment.

In 14 games at Triple-A, Antonacci is hitting .313 with an OPS of .979 and two home runs. A native of Springfield, Illinois, Antonacci got drafted in the fifth round of the 2024 MLB Draft.
Sam Antonacci should get a decent amount of playing time with the Chicago White Sox
A natural infielder, Antonacci has been playing the outfield while in Charlotte to add his versatility. Antonacci has played 11 games in left field and has a perfect fielding percentage (1.000).
Antonacci will be joining a deep outfield rotation. The White Sox outfield consists of the left fielder Andrew Benintendi, right fielder Derek Hill, centerfielder Tristan Peters, and outfielder Everson Pereira. Given Antonacci’s hitting abilities, the White Sox may risk some of his fielding mishaps to get his bat into the lineup.
