Chicago Bears fans react after Dexter Lawrence trade news
Dexter Lawrence has been repeatedly linked to the Chicago Bears amid the NFL offseason.
The three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle is currently under contract with the New York Giants through 2027. This is after Lawrence signed a massive $90 million, four-year extension with the team in 2023.
Lawrence has been busy negotiating another extension with the Giants, but nothing has come to fruition as of yet. In fact, talks took a turn for the worse on Tuesday. According to reporter Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Lawrence and the Giants have reached an impasse. New York has reportedly engaged with teams on a potential trade for the star DT.

Previous reports have indicated that Lawrence had already requested a trade away from New York. He is also not expected to participate in the team’s offseason program.
Rapoport’s report on Tuesday night suggests that discussions on a new deal have completely broken down. It appears that the Giants are now intent on trading Lawrence to the top bidder.

Bears fans are now urging general manager Ryan Poles to make a move. Chicago would certainly benefit from adding a player like Lawrence to their defense, and supporters are adamant that now is the time to strike.
“arguably the best DT in football and the Bears can free up a ton of money next offseason if they unload the Dayo and Grady contracts,” a reaction on Instagram read.
“Ryan poles its time !!” said another.
“Give em pick 25 he is worth it,” a user declared.
Others, however, are being more realistic. Supporters also recognize the team’s salary cap restrictions. Considering how much Dexter is expected to demand in his new deal, more than a few fans believe that the price is too high for the former first-round pick.
“Trading for Dexter doesn’t make sense money wise and I rather keep my picks and keep building we have good coaching that can develop young talent,” a comment read.
“We have no money sadly,” agreed another.
“Gonna be an expensive rental. I like his game, but a guy that signed a new contract and then complained about it 6 months later will probably never be happy,” suggested a supporter.
Either way, it appears that Lawrence’s time with the Giants is coming to an end. It remains to be seen where he ends up in 2026.
