Coby Bryant speaks out after Chicago Bears announcement
New Chicago Bears safety Coby Bryant is turning a page in his NFL career. After a Super Bowl-winning season with the Seattle Seahawks, the former Cincinnati Bearcats standout decided to take his talents to Chicago ahead of his fifth year as a pro. Bryant got the bag, securing a three-year, $40 million deal with the Bears in free agency.
Bryant played a key role in Seattle’s success last season, which led to a major payday for the 26-year-old. He made 15 starts in the regular season for the Seahawks in 2025, registering four interceptions for 43 yards, seven passes defended and one forced fumble. He also logged 66 total tackles (39 solo) and four tackles for loss.
Chicago Bears’ Coby Bryant addresses jersey number decision
The Bears took to social media on Tuesday to announce the jersey numbers of their new players. Bryant headlined the announcement with his No. 2 Bears jersey.
While the Chicago faithful expressed their support for their new defensive star, others could not help but feel sad. Bryant has taken the No. 2 from DJ Moore, who was recently traded to the Buffalo Bills.
For his part, Bryant decided to address his decision on X. The former fourth-round pick explained why he chose the No. 2.

Byrant donned the No. 8 shirt in Seattle. In college, he wore No. 25 and No. 7 with the Bearcats. However, as he expressed in his X post, the No. 2 holds a special place in his heart.
This was his first number when he started playing football at a young age, and Bryant is now going back to his roots as he embarks on a new phase in his career.
