Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White

The Indiana Fever are as busy as every other team in the league right now. The WNBA Draft was held on Monday, which came less than a week after free agency officially opened. The Fever’s front office had its hands full with free-agent negotiations and finalizing its draft plans.

It has been a successful past week for Indiana, though. They secured new deals for their key free agents in Kelsey Mitchell, Lexie Hull and Sophie Cunningham. They also brought in new faces in Monique Billings and Myisha Hines-Allen, to name a couple.

The Fever added three players in the draft, headlined by 10th overall pick Raven Johnson of South Carolina.

Indiana Fever fans react to latest free agency move

The Fever are not done just yet. On Wednesday, they announced their latest free agent signing. This came in the form of 5-foot-9 guard Shatori Walker-Kimbrough.

The 30-year-old veteran joins Indiana after spending the previous season with the Atlanta Dream. Walker-Kimbrough played 30 games for Atlanta in 2025, averaging 1.7 points in 8.6 minutes off the bench.

“a new addition to the squad 👠welcome to Indiana, Shatori Walker-Kimbrough,” the Fever posted on Instagram.

While some Fever fans welcomed the news with excitement, more than a few others were unhappy about it. A good number of disgruntled supporters did not hesitate to vent out on social media.

“This is the perfect backup for our backup who is the backup for the backup of our backups backup,” a comment on Instagram read.

“thank god we got another guard!! I was worried the other 15 we have stacked weren’t gonna be enough,” another said.

“This is a joke, at this point,” a user wrote.

“ANOTHER GUARD?!?!? 🤔” asked a fan.

“Mannn wtf…yea we not winning shit this year,” declared another.

“Who is making these decisions ???? We got enough guards that can do the work… we needs bigs,” demanded a supporter.

As the reactions indicate, the Fever has no shortage of backcourt players right now. Caitlin Clark and Mitchell are going to lead the way, with Hull and Cunningham also expected to play key roles. The Fever also signed Tyasha Harris in free agency. On top of that, all three of Indiana’s draft picks were guards.

As for Walker-Kimbrough, the WNBA champion guard expressed her excitement about joining her new team. She also highlighted the opportunity to play under head coach Stephanie White.

“I’m looking forward to joining an amazing organization like the Fever,” Walker-Kimbrough said, via the Fever’s website. “I’m excited to play alongside some of the most talented players in the league.

“The success of the team last year not only speaks to the players but also Coach White and her staff, so I’m blessed to be a part of it.”
