Potential Chicago Bears draft target reportedly moving up boards

The 2026 NFL Draft is officially here as the league descends on Pittsburgh to welcome in the next class of rookies. For the Chicago Bears, they hold seven picks in this draft including No. 25 overall.

Ryan Poles, Ben Johnson and the rest of the staff will have four picks in the top 90 as well. There’s a big opportunity to land some starters and key players that can contribute right away. One prospect that the Bears have been connected to is Arizona safety Treydan Stukes.

He’s a player that has been mocked to the Bears by several people with one of their two second-round picks. But leading into the draft, Stukes is seeing his stock on the rise.

Going into the draft process, Stukes’ stock was around No. 154 overall. Since then, he’s made a good impression in terms of the combine, meeting with teams, pro day and more. Now, his stock is at an all-time high heading into Thursday night and there’s a slim chance he could even go in the late first-round.

With Caleb Downs being considered the top safety in this draft, most analysts believe Oregon’s Dillon Thieneman and Toledo’s Emmanuel McNeil-Warren are the next best safeties. But could that be Stukes? As Adam Schefter reported above, at least one general manager believes he’s the best safety in the class.

So what does that mean for the Bears?

If Chicago doesn’t target a safety at No. 25, they could focus on Stukes in the second round. But would they be able to pick him at 57 or 60? It doesn’t appear to be likely right now.

There are some concerns with Stukes, however.

He’s going to be 25 at the start of the 2026 NFL season. Stukes is an older prospect but with the new NIL era, that is going to become the norm in terms of the NFL Draft. He’s also coming off an ACL injury in college and while he’s played a lot of football, the medicals could be something that keeps him out of the first round.

If he’s there at No. 57 or No. 60, don’t be surprised if the Bears do make a run at taking him.
