Ranking the best quarterbacks in the NFC North
The NFC North is one of the most competitive divisions within the NFL. Last year, the Chicago Bears won the division with an 11-6 record. The Green Bay Packers were 9-7-1 while both the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings were 9-8. Indeed, each of the four teams has the capability to finish the 2026 NFL season with a winning record again. Fans can try to predict who will be crowned division champion on sites like betting casino.
Of course, there are multiple reasons that teams win (or do not win) their divisions. That being said, the quarterback position is considered to be the most important in football for a reason. Whoever wins the NFC North is going to have to get solid quarterback play from their star under center.
Power Ranking NFC North Quarterbacks Pre-Draft 1. Jared Goff (Detroit Lions)
From a pure numbers standpoint, it is hard to argue that Detroit Lions starter Jared Goff is the best quarterback in the division. Last season, he was the only quarterback in the NFC North named to the Pro Bowl, completing 68.0% of his passes for 4,564 yards, 34 touchdowns, just eight interceptions, and a 105.5 passer rating.
Goff is also the elder statesman among NFC North starting quarterbacks at 31 years old. He has been playing at a high level for years now, but could see himself overtaken by any of the younger quarterbacks in the division.
2. Jordan Love (Green Bay Packers)
Last year, Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love had, arguably, the best season of his career. He completed a career-high 66.3% of his passes for 3,381 yards, 23 touchdowns, just six interceptions, and a career-best 101.2 passer rating.
Love only played in 15 games due to a couple injuries. That being said, he has improved dramatically since becoming the Packers’ starting quarterback in 2023 and only gets better each year.
3. Caleb Williams (Chicago Bears)
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams made a name for himself (literally) with his late-game heroics and comebacks in the NFL Playoffs. Now attempting to trademark the nickname “Iceman,” Williams is the youngest starting quarterback in the division and intends on becoming the best before too long.
Last year, Williams had a 58.1% completion percentage, 3,942 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, seven interceptions, and a 90.1 passer rating.
Clearly, accuracy is a concern for the young Bears quarterback, and he will need to see that completion percentage rise considerably in order for him to move up on this list.
4. Kyler Murray (or JJ McCarthy)
The Minnesota Vikings saw JJ McCarthy, whom they chose as their quarterback over Sam Darnold (and who won the Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks), play so poorly in 2025 that they decided to acquire Kyler Murray in NFL free agency after his release from the Arizona Cardinals.
Murray, at least, is a former Pro Bowler and may have just needed a change of scenery. McCarthy, on the other hand, is a former top-10 NFL Draft pick who simply is not the player Minnesota thought he was.
While the rest of the teams in the NFC North are set at the quarterback position for years to come, Minnesota is still struggling to find their long-term solution at the position.
