Sophie Cunningham reveals ‘best thing’ Indiana Fever have ever done
Sophie Cunningham and the Indiana Fever are now less than two weeks away from the start of the new WNBA season. The Fever kick off their campaign at home on May 9 with a matchup against reigning Rookie of the Year Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings.
The Fever played their first preseason game on Friday. They took down the New York Liberty in a road game at Barclays Center, 109-91. Cunningham got the start for head coach Stephanie White as the 6-foot-1 guard marked her return from injury.
Cunningham was limited to just 30 games last season. She suffered a season-ending knee injury in August, cutting her first year with the Fever short. She has since been working hard behind the scenes to get herself back to full strength.

Cunningham logged 14 minutes on Friday against New York. She registered 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting, two rebounds, an assist, two steal, and three triples to help lead Indiana to victory.
Sophie Cunningham reacts to Indiana Fever’s social media move
The Fever’s social media team has been extra busy as the new season approaches. As expected, they are doing everything they can to add to the hype heading into 2026.
On Sunday, the Fever posted a video on Instagram featuring Cunningham and her teammates. The clip teased a special guest that got the players very excited.

After the players introduced themselves, they were asked how they would feel if they were handed a puppy. Much like the rest of her teammates, Cunningham got giddy over the thought of a cute baby dog.
Cunningham also shared her reaction to the clip with a declaration in the comments section.
“the best thing we’ve ever done on media is THIS,” Cunningham wrote.
The video was cut short right before the puppy was brought out. There’s going to be a second part of the clip, which the team said is “coming soon.”
Cunningham grew up on a farm and is very fond of animals. It is clear that she enjoyed this heartwarming moment with the Fever’s media team.
