Sophie Cunningham reveals Indiana Fever dilemma after major career move
Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham’s popularity skyrocketed last season. It started during a game in June when Caitlin Clark was ganged up on by Connecticut Sun players after getting poked in the eye. Cunningham fouled Jacy Sheldon hard a few plays later, sending a strong message that she won’t allow her teammate to be bullied. The 6-foot-1 guard also embraced the enforcer role.
Her social media following blew up overnight, and it also led her to secure partnerships with major brands. Cunningham has built a diverse portfolio, partnering with Arby’s, Adidas and Ring Security, among others. She revealed new pictures from her 2026 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit photoshoot on Instagram on Monday.
Cunningham will be busy in the coming weeks, as the new WNBA season begins on May 8. At the same time, she is also going to promote her SI Swimsuit edition debut, along with her other endorsements.

WNBA: Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham unsure about SI launch party
Cunningham revealed on her podcast on Monday that Sports Illustrated will hold a launch party in New York City in mid-May. However, she has a dilemma. The 2019 second-round pick might not be able to grace the event due to schedule issues, as the Fever’s season would be in full swing by then.
“In New York, they have this big launch party, and I don’t think I’ll be able to make it because of (the) season,” Cunningham said on her “Show Me Something” podcast. “We might be off that day, so, if I do, I’m doing a quick New York trip.”
She also discussed her experience during her major career move.
“It really was so fun,” Cunningham said. “You just feel so empowered, and something I really do love about it is they just empower all types of women, and it really was freaking awesome.”
Huge congratulations to @sophaller on Sports Illustrated

Indiana has four games scheduled from May 15 to 22. Cunningham could still attend the party as long as it does not coincide with game night.
The Fever announced on April 12 that Cunningham re-signed with the team in free agency. She’s expected to play a major role in the upcoming campaign.
