Caitlin Clark’s honest admission about bold career move

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22)

Caitlin Clark had her 2025 WNBA season cut short due to injuries. However, the Indiana Fever star still managed to remain in the spotlight while expanding her profile beyond basketball.

Clark was limited to just 13 games last season because of multiple injuries. The 6-foot point guard missed significant stretches of the campaign, including WNBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis. The event was meant to celebrate her influence on the league’s surging popularity.

Following her standout career with the Iowa Hawkeyes, the 24-year-old guard emerged as one of the WNBA’s biggest attractions. The “Caitlin Clark effect” was historic during her 2024 rookie season.

Her long-range shooting and creative passing helped boost television audiences and game attendance. After setting multiple records, including most assists in a season and most points by a rookie, Clark was named the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year.

Caitlin Clark gets candid about first NBC Sports appearance

During her offseason rehabilitation from injury, Clark made a bold career move by joining NBC Sports as a guest analyst. She appeared twice on “Sunday Night Basketball” during NBA national broadcast coverage.

Clark worked alongside sportscaster Maria Taylor, as well as NBA legends Reggie Miller, Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady. She joined them for New York Knicks-Los Angeles Lakers coverage at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 1. She also appeared during the Oklahoma City Thunder’s March 29 game against New York at Paycom Center.

In a recent interview, Clark admitted she initially battled her nerves about her stint in broadcasting with NBC Sports.

“I was definitely a little bit nervous at first,” the superstar guard said of her broadcasting debut.

She then credited Taylor for helping her feel more comfortable and expressed excitement about working with NBA legends.

“But being around some of the best players who have ever played our game was really special,” Clark said. “I’m super passionate about the game I love, so hopefully there can be more of that as well.”

During Clark’s broadcasting debut, a segment went viral. She drew social media attention for her reaction to Miller comparing her style of play to Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard. Cameras captured Clark appearing visibly surprised and uncertain about being compared to a role player rather than a star.

The “Caitlin Clark effect” shows no signs of fading to this day. Her popularity has accelerated the league’s growth, which in turn has increased revenue opportunities for other WNBA stars.

The Fever will open the 2026 season against the Dallas Wings on May 9 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Fans are expected to pack the arena to see Clark in action.
