Fever rookie Raven Johnson had something to say to Angel Reese
Raven Johnson impressed during the Indiana Fever’s preseason slate. The rookie guard earned the trust of her teammates and head coach Stephanie White. She showcased her two-way prowess and proved that she can translate her collegiate success to the pro level.
Johnson is fresh off a strong senior season with the South Carolina Gamecocks. She helped the team reach the national championship game and won SEC Defensive Player of the Year honors.
The 23-year-old will likely come off the bench for Indiana. However, she’s expected to get ample playing time, giving her a chance to carve out a key role. White told reporters on April 25 that she and her staff will find ways to make her part of the rotation.

Angel Reese celebrated her 24th birthday on Wednesday. The Atlanta Dream forward shared two snaps of herself from a photoshoot on social media.

A number of WNBA players, including Johnson, greeted her.

Reese played against Johnson and the Gamecocks during her collegiate career with LSU. However, the two-time WNBA All-Star lost all four matchups.
This is far from the first interaction between Reese and Johnson on social media. The 6-foot-4 forward sent a proud message on Johnson after the rookie’s preseason debut for Indiana.
The Chicago Sky traded her to the Dream on April 6. Reese joins an Atlanta side with championship aspirations in 2026. The Dream reached the playoffs last season but lost in the first round to the Fever.
Meanwhile, Indiana drafted Johnson at No. 10, providing more backcourt depth.
Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham are back to full strength this season. They are eager to lead the team to a championship and mentor Johnson in her first campaign.
The Fever reached the second round of the playoffs in 2025. They pushed the series to a Game 5 before A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces eliminated them.
