Chicago Bears sign local hero, Super Bowl champion WR for Caleb Williams
The Chicago Bears have added some key depth at wide receiver after trading away DJ Moore this offseason and losing Olamide Zaccheaus to the Atlanta Falcons in free agency.
The Bears signed Kalif Raymond in free agency and added Zavion Thomas in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
On Saturday, the Bears revealed they signed veteran receiver Scotty Miller.
As Courtney Cronin of ESPN noted, Miller was with wide receivers coach/assistant head coach Antwaan Randel El on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when they won the Super Bowl LV. Miller participated at Halas Hall during rookie minicamp this week.
Bears head coach Ben Johnson likes the speed Miller showed on tape.
“From afar, I’ve been able to see the speed, the quickness,” Johnson said. “Certainly very intriguing.”

Miller was a high school football hero at Barrington High School, in the Northwest suburb of Chicago. He played four years at Bowling Green, earning first-team All-MAC honors in 2016.
The Buccaneers selected Miller in the sixth round of the 2019 draft. He’s had stops with the Atlanta Falcons and Pittsburgh Steelers before returning home to play for the Bears this season.
Miller, 28, recorded nine receptions for 62 yards in 2025. He has experience as a punt and kick returner in the league.
With the addition of Miller and Raymond and Thomas, the Bears are showing they want the position to have much more speed than they had last season.
Chicago’s top two wide receivers will be Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III. The Bears are setting up to have a serious competition for the WR3 position in training camp, and should have an upgrade for the return game on special teams.
Miller brings experience, but he hasn’t had a season with more than 10 receptions since he was in Atlanta in 2023. His best season came in 2020, when he recorded 33 receptions for 501 yards and three touchdowns.
