Chicago Bulls are linked to this free agent ahead of 2026 NBA Draft

Austin Reaves, Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls could make a lot of noise this offseason. They have one of the largest amounts of cap space available and two picks in the top-15 in this year’s NBA Draft. There are a lot of decisions the front office can make in order to shape out the roster. While this year’s free agent class is not considered too strong, there are some impactful players who will be available. There is one name who has reportedly drawn interest of Chicago’s front office, so let’s take a look at who it is.

The Chicago Bulls are reportedly interested in Austin Reaves

In an article published by Dan Wolke and Sam Amick about the Los Angeles Lakers’ upcoming offseason, guard Austin Reaves was highlighted. He is an unrestricted free agent this offseason and can command a lot of money, and the Bulls are reportedly one of the teams that are interested in adding him. Below is what they discussed regarding Reaves’ future:

“Rival executives predicted Reaves could command $40 million a season due to a combination of his play, his age, and most importantly, a free-agent class completely devoid of players as productive as him in their prime. At present, the Chicago Bulls and Brooklyn Nets, who both have needs at the guard position, are the only teams with the sort of salary-cap space available to meet that sort of financial mark. Other teams that are known to have some interest in Reaves – like Utah and Atlanta, per league sources – would need to make roster moves to find the necessary cap space. League sources say winning will be a significant factor in Reaves’ thinking.”

Why Austin Reaves fits for the Chicago Bulls this offseason

The Bulls provide a solid landing spot for Reaves if he decides to leave Los Angeles. The guard position is basically up for grabs as Josh Giddey can slide to the three and allow Reaves to play shooting guard. Reaves had a strong season as he finished with a 49.0/36.0/87.1 shooting split while averaging 23.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. In the Eastern Conference, he could be one of the more valuable guards as he immediately is top-five in the conference.

The price tag is something that will be intriguing, as $40 million per season for Reaves is a lot of money. The belief is currently that Reaves will re-sign with the Lakers, but the Bulls could provide a space for him to continue growing and winning. They hold the fourth and 15th picks in the 2026 NBA Draft and significant cap space. It will be intriguing to see how interested Chicago is in signing Reaves this offseason.
