Chicago White Sox get pitcher lost in Rule 5 draft sent back to them
The Chicago White Sox are 31-27 on the season thus far, which is far better than virtually anyone expected them to do before the season began. While their pitching staff has been inconsistent as a whole, their offense has been quite good for the vast majority of the year to date.
Prior to the start of the 2026 season, one of Chicago’s best pitching prospects, Peyton Pallette, was selected away from them by the Cleveland Guardians in the Rule 5 draft. As per the rules, Pallette had to make Cleveland’s Opening Day roster and remain on their Major League team for the entire season.
Well, he is now back with Chicago.
The Chicago White Sox have accepted Peyton Pallette back from the Cleveland Guardians
On Sunday, it was reported that the Guardians offered Pallette back to the White Sox. Once the offer was made, Chicago had 24 hours to decide whether or not they would accept him or work out a trade with Cleveland.
It did not take long for the White Sox to welcome him back:
Cleveland has returned RHP Peyton Pallette to the White Sox. Pallette has been assigned to Class AAA Charlotte.

In 16 relief appearances this year with the Guardians, Pallette is 1-2 with a 5.23 ERA.
As noted in the post above, Pallette has been assigned to Triple-A Charlotte. In 36 appearances in Charlotte last year, he was 1-2 with a 4.36 ERA. Prior to that, he made 16 appearances at Double-A Birmingham where he was 1-1 with a 3.43 ERA.
In three minor league seasons with the White Sox organization, Pallette is 6-15 with a 4.20 ERA. He was originally drafted by Chicago in the second round of the 2022 amateur draft.
While he is being assigned to Triple-A, it would not be a surprise to see Pallette back in the Majors, this time with Chicago, later in the year.
