Indiana Fever forward Aliyah Boston

On Friday, Stephanie White and the Indiana Fever were dealt two big blows. They lost 104-102 to the Washington Mystics at home, despite being favored to win. To make matters worse, Aliyah Boston exited early and did not return due to a lower leg injury.

Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell did their best to lead the team to victory. The 2024 Rookie of the Year knocked down a late three-pointer in the fourth quarter and sent the game into overtime. She finished with 32 points, four rebounds and eight assists, while Mitchell registered 24 points. Boston played 21 minutes, recording nine points and four rebounds.

However, Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen wreaked havoc on the Fever. The Mystics’ star duo powered the team by combining for 55 points on 21-for-31 shooting, along with 19 rebounds and six assists.

Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White comments on Aliyah Boston’s leg injury

White was asked about Boston’s injury during her postgame press conference. She stressed that she will have to get word from the team’s doctors to get a clear understanding of the center’s status.

“I don’t have any information on that. I haven’t spoken to our medical staff yet,” White said, via Fever reporter Chloe Peterson of the Indianapolis Star.

Fans on X expressed concern, with some fearing that Boston could be sidelined indefinitely.

Fever needs to cut a guard and get a big to replace Boston while she’s out. Need another big get killed on the inside,” one comment read.

“Oh no, this is the thing that we are scared about with ABs injury. AB please be okay🙏🙏,” a fan wrote.

I’m so sick rn. We can’t win without her,” a user commented.

“Someone tell Aliyah to run.  Find a doctor that doesn’t work for the Pacer organization.  We seen how the players have been maintained on both Fever and Pacers,” posted another.

Please keep trying to get some info on this whenever you can,” a reaction read.

“This is why AB and others when contracted with the WNBA team should be prohibited from playing on other teams in off season. This means Unrivaled and the ugly Saudi teams in Oct. Injuries happen,” another said.

Boston exited with 2:01 remaining in the third quarter. She limped off the court and went to the locker room.

The Fever announced in the fourth quarter that they have ruled her out for the remainder of the game. It’s worth noting that the three-time All-Star also suffered a lower-leg injury in February while playing in the Unrivaled league.

The Fever are expected to provide further updates in the coming days on the severity of the injury.
