WNBA reacts to Angel Reese’s move before new season with Atlanta Dream
Angel Reese is one of the most well-known WNBA players. After two seasons with the Chicago Sky, she is now with the Atlanta Dream following an offseason trade.
The Sky selected her as the No. 7 pick in 2024. The former LSU star enjoyed a successful collegiate career. She won the national championship in 2023 and received the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player award.
The 24-year-old has also made a name outside the basketball court. Last year, Reese walked the Victoria’s Secret runway and secured endorsement deals with some big brands. She became the face of Reebok and launched her signature shoe line in September.
Experts expect Reese’s popularity to continue to skyrocket as her WNBA career progresses. She also looks to build on her strong 2025 season and once again lead the league in rebounds.

The two-time All-Star attended the Met Gala on Monday. The Dream showcased her look for the event by posting a photo on Instagram on Tuesday.
The WNBA responded with three emojis.

Reese made headlines on April 6 as the Sky traded her to the Dream for two first-round picks. The 6-foot-3 forward will have a fresh start with her new team and has the potential to be the face of the franchise. She is coming off a strong 2025 campaign, posting 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals in 30 games.
Reese has a chance to guide the Dream back to the playoffs this year. They reached the postseason in 2025, but the Indiana Fever eliminated them in the first round. Atlanta re-signed key players like Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, Jordin Canada, and Naz Hillmon in the offseason. It also added Madina Okot and Indya Nivar via the draft.
The Dream will open their regular season on the road on Saturday against the Minnesota Lynx. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. ET.
