Chicago Bears’ surprising WR is already turning heads in camp

Chicago Bears

Last year, the Chicago Bears boasted an incredibly deep and talented receiving corps that helped allow Caleb Williams to enjoy a tremendous sophomore campaign.

But is the Bears’ wide receiver room as strong heading into 2026?

Chicago traded away D.J. Moore and lost Olamide Zacchaeus to free agency this offseason, and it didn’t really come up with much of an answer, signing Kalif Raymond and selecting Zavion Thomas in the third round of the NFL Draft.

However, the Bears did make another move that has flown under the radar: they signed Scotty Miller.

Miller has bounced around a bit since entering the league in 2019, but he enjoyed a decent stretch with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, helping them win a Super Bowl during the 2020-21 campaign. Could he surprisingly make Chicago’s roster this year? Apparently, he is already making a strong case.

The Bears just completed their three-day mandatory minicamp, and Miller made quite the impact.

Clay Harbor of Chicago Sports Network noted that Miller had a “solid camp” and that he basically did everything well, putting himself in the conversation to qualify for a roster spot.

Rome Odunze, Luther Burden, Raymond and Thomas are all locks to make the 53-man roster, but after that, things get a bit dicey. Jahdae Walker probably has the inside track to making the team, but even he isn’t guaranteed anything. Beyond him, it’s completely wide open, so Miller should have a great opportunity.

Miller was originally selected by the Buccaneers in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. His best year came in 2020, when he hauled in 33 receptions for 501 yards and three touchdowns, averaging a robust 15.2 yards per catch. Of course, it helped that he was catching passes from Tom Brady, but he still produced, nonetheless.

Since then, the 28-year-old has not been quite as productive, failing to even reach 200 yards receiving in a single season over the last five years. He also spent time with the Atlanta Falcons and Pittsburgh Steelers following a four-year stint in Tampa Bay.

Perhaps Miller will put himself back on the map with the Bears in 2026.
