No.2 and No.4 White Sox prospects being promoted to MLB (report)
The Chicago White Sox have hit a bit of a rough patch lately, going 4-6 over their last 10 games. That stretch includes a season-long four-game losing streak, and one issue in particular has become increasingly difficult to ignore: the pitching staff could use some reinforcements.
The struggles have been especially evident during the current skid, with Chicago being outscored 38-15 over the four-game stretch. As the offense has failed to keep pace, the need for more reliable pitching has only become more apparent.
According to a report from Ian Eskridge of Future Sox, and later confirmed by MLB reporter Scott Merkin, Chicago is calling up its top two pitching prospects: LHP Hagen Smith and RHP Tanner McDougal. Smith is currently the organizations No.2 prospect and McDougal No.4.

Per reports, the Chicago White Sox are calling up LHP Hagen Smith and RHP Tanner McDougal
While the organization has not yet confirmed the corresponding move, the White Sox will need to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Smith. McDougal is currently on the 40-man after being added last offseason to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft, but, like Smith, he has yet to make his MLB debut. In another report, from James Fox at Future Sox and Just Baseball Media, Noah Schultz and David Sandlin will be optioned to Triple-A in order to make room for this pair of pitchers.

Hopefully the combination of Smith and McDougal can provide the White Sox some stability from the pitching front. Smith has exceptional swing and miss stuff, and McDougal has exceptional velocity that is capable of hitting triple digits. Chicago needs a pitcher to “catch fire” per say, and hopefully one or both of these players can do so.
