Does anyone know why?
As we here at TPOL have been researching and writing commentary the last several days, an interesting question (or group of questions) came up.
The first regards Dr. Faucet (we know, his name is really Fauci – but this isn’t a typo.)
We can now be fairly certain that he funneled money to China, and in particular to the Wuhan laboratories, to support research on “gain of function” for various viruses. Including the infamous and historic SARS-CoV2 virus which was released from that lab and is the cause of COVID-19. (What we generally call “Beer Flu” in derision: not that it hasn’t killed people, but to remind us of how this fiasco has impacted us.)
The GAO tells us that the NIH and other related agencies gave grants of 3.7 million dollars (US-FRNs) between 2014 and 2019 to the Wuhan Institute of Virology. During that five-year period, a total of 28.9 million dollars went from DHS (and presumably other FedGov agencies) directly to Chinese entities, supposedly for research.
Now, 3.7 or 28.9 million is a drop in the bucket for Uncle Sam’s burning pockets in the days of trillion FRN deficits and a national debt approaching $40 trillion.
But why? Why is the FedGov sending ANY money (grants or not) to China and therefore directly or indirectly to the Chinese Communist Party?
Why? Well, the GAO (on another webpage) tells us “to advance U.S. interests.” Sounds “legit” NOT to us. And GAO tells us not just that. It tells us, “U.S. agencies reported providing at least $48 million in obligations for various purposes to entities located in China from fiscal years 2017 through 2021. Of this amount, agencies obligated about $22.8 million through assistance awards and about $25.2 million through contracts.”
Okay, sometimes we could see where the FedGov might need to pay money to an enemy nation or a company controlled by that nation. For example: electricity, fuel, water and sewer service. And maybe local people to sweep the sidewalks outside the consulates or embassy. But the example GAO gives is paying a CCP company to provide INTERNET services to those places. What? Internet services? No matter how good the encryption, you are leaving yourself wide open to hackers: hackers paid (or enslaved) by the CCP. Why weren’t you paying Elon Musk for Starlink services? (Remember, that was when he was still in good graces with the Deep State, before DOGE and all that.)
So why? No, much as we call it “stupid” and wish it were, there is clearly cunning and at least a modicum of intelligence behind all this. Faucet and his co-conspirators had a reason – many reasons, no doubt – to pay “good” money to Chinese Communists. And specifically to “improve” viruses and other stuff. (One study involved how malaria and other diseases are transmitted by insects. Duh. How many ways did the CCP (well, Wuhan Institute etc.) find to spread malaria whenever and where ever?)
Usually when people (and groups) decide to harm Americans just because we are Americans, or do nasty things to the public or to government agencies, they tell us why. They even publish a manifesto. (Really easy to do these days, on line.) The reasons, though frequently without much rhyme or reason and poorly expressed, are many. We are all controlled by the Jewish superstate. We are a bunch of fascists. We are a bunch of racists. We don’t support Iran or Cuba or Venezuela enough. We occupy two-thirds of the world. We didn’t hire Uncle Bob to be a government employee for a quarter-million a year. Whatever.
But Faucet was already making a cool salary from Uncle Sugar. As was his wife and half his relatives, apparently. He is not an avid friend or enemy of Israel or Russia – or even Texas or Florida! So why?
Is it money? Ideology? Blackmail? Is he a lover of China (like Tim Walz?) or the secret lovechild of Joe Stalin? We just don’t know. But it is clear that he felt that what was going on in the States for those years included things that needed to be stopped, or that things needed to be done. So was he pushing for more government control? For restrictions on people’s freedoms? For more government spending?
He certainly got those. But it still begs the question.
Good readers, what are your thoughts?
