“Seal the Book Until the Time of the End” – Daniel 12:4 - This “Book” is NOW Being Unsealed

“But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.”

The Sealed Prophecy

Daniel, a prophet beloved by God, received visions so extraordinary and far-reaching that even he did not fully understand them. In Daniel 12:4, God instructed him to “shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end.” Why? Because the full understanding of these revelations was not meant for Daniel’s day — but for a future generation.

That generation, dear reader, I believe is us.

“Many Shall Run to and Fro”

This phrase may sound vague, but it is strikingly relevant to our age. In Daniel’s time, long-distance travel was grueling, dangerous, and rare. Today, “running to and fro” is the norm. With airplanes, high-speed trains, and cars, we traverse continents in hours.

Some interpret this as a metaphor for spiritual searching — people chasing answers, doctrines, and prophecies. Both interpretations align with the reality of our time. We live in an era where humanity is constantly in motion — both physically and intellectually.

“Knowledge Shall Be Increased”

Perhaps no line of prophecy has been more visibly fulfilled than this one. Consider the explosion of knowledge in just the last 150 years:

• The internet delivers instant access to information once locked away in libraries.
• Artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and biotechnology are advancing faster than laws or ethics can keep up.
• Even biblical knowledge has exploded — with thousands of translations, commentaries, archaeological findings, and theological tools now available at our fingertips.

But this prophecy isn’t just about general knowledge. Daniel was specifically told to seal the book — meaning the understanding of his own prophecies would be hidden until the proper time.

That time is now unfolding before us.

Unsealing the Book

Today, with the combined understanding of the books of Daniel and Revelation, more and more believers are recognizing signs of the end times:

• The rebirth of Israel (Isaiah 66:8)
• Globalism and the rise of centralized control (Revelation 13)
• Moral decay and deception in the last days (2 Timothy 3)
• A falling away from the truth (2 Thessalonians 2)

Prophetic pieces that were once veiled are now coming into sharp focus. The “sealed book” is opening — not by man’s power, but through the Spirit of God illuminating minds in these final days.

Are You Among the Wise?

Later in Daniel 12, we are told:

“None of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.” (Daniel 12:10)

This isn’t about human IQ. It’s about spiritual discernment — a hunger for truth, a heart that fears God, and eyes that watch for His return. Only those who seek God with humility and reverence will understand what’s unfolding.

The prophecy of Daniel 12:4 was sealed for a reason: the world wasn’t ready to understand it. But that seal is now loosening. The signs are no longer subtle. We are racing toward the final chapter in God’s redemptive story.

A Personal Reflection on the Increase of Knowledge

Let me share a personal example that illustrates this “increase of knowledge and intelligence.”

For over 20 years, I’ve had a deep fascination with the Book of Revelation. Yet for much of that time, reading it felt like trying to decipher a foreign language. Why? Because Revelation was intentionally written in a way that it would be “sealed until the end.”

Revelation is apocalyptic literature — much like sections of Daniel, Ezekiel, and Zechariah. This genre was designed to be cryptic — not just to confuse enemies, but also to preserve its message for a future generation. Revelation 1:1 says it was given “by signs” (Greek: semaino) — meaning symbolic language was used intentionally.

Symbols Transcend Time and Culture

Using symbols like beasts, dragons, scrolls, and candlesticks gives Revelation a universal quality. These images speak across languages and generations. A beast may look different to a 1st-century Roman than to a 21st-century reader — but the concept of evil empires, chaos, or deception remains powerful.

A Coded Message of Hope During Persecution

Revelation was written during a time of severe persecution, likely under Emperor Domitian (around A.D. 95). A direct, openly critical message against Rome or emperor worship could have meant death for early Christians. The imagery helped believers understand the truth while concealing it from hostile authorities.

What Makes Today Different?

The answer lies in the tools we now have to help study and interpret these scriptures. One of the most powerful tools available today is artificial intelligence (AI).

AI can help us better understand the Book of Revelation — not by replacing the Holy Spirit, but by assisting our study in practical ways:

But a Spiritual Warning:

AI is a tool — not a teacher. Understanding Revelation ultimately requires prayer, discernment, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Personally, I’ve found the advancement of AI extremely helpful in gathering information in a fraction of the time it would take me to do manually. But I view AI for what it is — an assistant in study, not a spiritual advisor. God remains my ultimate source of truth.

In the end, no matter how advanced our tools become, it is God who opens our eyes, God who unveils the meaning, and God who teaches us through His Spirit.
