House of an Evil & Xenophobic Bishop Burned Down in South Africa

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The recent burning of Bishop Sandile Ndlela’s house in South Africa has sparked widespread outrage and reflection on the destructive power of hatred and xenophobia. Ndlela, a bishop known for his vehement anti-foreigner stance, made headlines with his shocking declaration: “documented or not, leave our country.” His words conveyed a disturbing message—that even foreigners who are legally documented should pack up and leave South Africa.

Instead of embodying the teachings of Jesus Christ—who preached love, compassion, and acceptance—Ndlela chose to pursue a campaign of hatred and exclusion. Rather than extending a helping hand to foreigners, especially the vulnerable and impoverished, he resorted to inciting hostility. His actions even targeted Christian foreigners, demonstrating a blatant disregard for the core Christian values he claims to uphold. His obsession with protecting land and material possessions overshadowed his spiritual duties. He seemed to forget that our time on earth is temporary and that the true kingdom he swore to serve is spiritual, not material.

The consequences of such hatred have been devastating. Ndlela’s house was petrol-bombed, a violent act that many condemn. Yet, in his response, he’s now appealing for donations to rebuild what was lost—highlighting the tragic irony that material possessions have become more significant than the moral and spiritual decay that fueled such violence.

South Africa has witnessed a tragic wave of xenophobic violence, with many foreign nationals killed, shops looted, and properties burned. Tens of thousands have fled their homes, leaving behind the businesses and livelihoods they painstakingly built. The chaos has left a scar on the nation’s conscience, revealing the destructive potential of intolerance and hatred.

It’s also noteworthy that Bishop Ndlela is affiliated with the MK political party.

In Rwandan genocide, many religious leaders supported the tragic slaughter of Tutsis. This history underscores the dangerous consequences of allowing hate to be justified or tolerated within influential circles.

While the violence that burned Ndlela’s house was wrong, it’s crucial to recognize that violence only begets more violence. Revenge and hatred are never the answer. Instead, South Africa and the world must stand against such destructive impulses and promote a message of unity, compassion, and forgiveness.

In the end, true leadership and faith call for love and understanding—not fear and xenophobia. The path forward must be one of reconciliation and respect for all human beings, regardless of their nationality or background. Only then can we hope to heal the wounds inflicted by hatred and build a more inclusive, compassionate society.
