Dalit Groups Protest Against Atrocities, Demand Justice For Women

Proddatur – Andhra Pradesh: A protest program was launched at Proddatur by garlanding Dr. B R Ambedkar’s statue, as Dalit organizations demanded strict action against crimes targeting women from Dalit and weaker sections. Leaders alleged that law and order had collapsed under the coalition government, leaving women vulnerable to harassment, violence, and injustice.

Call for strict action against atrocities

“Our protest is not symbolic—it is a demand for justice,” declared Ramoji Emmanuel, National President of Mala Mahanadu (Ramoji Group). “The coalition government must take immediate and strict measures to stop the rising tide of rape, murder, harassment, and mental torture against Dalit and weaker section women. Every delay in action only deepens the wounds of our community.”

Demand for justice in high-profile cases

Protesters called for legal action against TDP MLA Kuna Ravikumar, alleging his mental harassment led to the suicide of Aamudalavalasa Soumya. They also demanded swift justice in the murder case of Sugali Preethi, urging the government to punish those responsible without delay.

Accusations against the coalition government

Dalit organizations accused the coalition government of failing to maintain law and order since coming to power. They alleged that even after 79 years of independence, the state has failed to provide basic protection to Dalit and weaker section women.

Warning of electoral consequences

The leaders warned that if atrocities continue unchecked, the Dalit community will deliver a “suitable lesson” to the ruling coalition in the upcoming elections.

The protest saw the participation of State Honorary President Suddapalli Murali Prasad, State Coordinator Mekala Obulesu, Rayalaseema General Secretary Suddapalli Arun Kumar, District President Sangati Pullaiah, and Proddatur Town leaders Yesuratnam, Narayana, Sathri and Lakshmaiah, among others.
