Why Are Cities Like Chicago Choosing Criminals Over Citizens?

Why are our governors and mayors of major cities aiding and abetting criminals?  How do those elected officials avoid prosecution when citizens suffer death at the hands of those criminals?  Where is the accountability? At what point does Illinois Governor Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson face criminal consequences for their corrupt behavior?

Case in point:

Sheridan Gorman, an 18-year-old freshman at Loyola University Chicago, was fatally shot on March 19, 2026, at Tobey Prinz Beach in the Rogers Park neighborhood. The suspect, Jose Medina-Medina, was a 25-year-old Venezuelan national who the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) alleges is an undocumented immigrant. According to reports, Gorman was walking with friends around 1:00 a.m. when the suspect allegedly approached them while wearing a mask and armed with a gun. As she attempted to flee, she was shot and died at the scene.

She died because Pritzker and Johnson support “Sanctuary State and City” policies that allow criminals to roam free, not only rob, steal, shoplift, and drive in Illinois—but to kill American citizens.

What about that woman who was set on fire by an illegal alien in the Chicago subway by an illegal alien?  Why aren’t Pritzker and Johnson standing in front of a 12 person jury for her attack?

“On November 17, 2025, a 26-year-old woman, Bethany MaGee, was set on fire in an immolation attack on a Blue Line train in Chicago, Illinois, United States. MaGee survived with critical injuries. The suspected assailant, Lawrence Reed, who had 72 prior arrests, was arrested and charged with federal terrorism charges.” 

“Police in New York City have named a woman who was set on fire and burned to death last week on a subway train in Brooklyn. Debrina Kawam, 57, of New Jersey, has been identified as the victim of the seemingly random 22 December attack that burned her body beyond recognition.”

The attacker fanned the flames and watched her die.

“The suspect, Sebastian Zapeta-Calil, who police said is an illegal migrant from Guatemala, appeared in Brooklyn Criminal Court and pleaded not guilty to one count of first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree murder and first-degree arson stemming from the horrific killing of Debrina Kawam, who police said was homeless and sleeping on a subway car when she was attacked.”

That illegal alien had been arrested for previous crimes, but released by Mayor Eric Adams and Governor Kathy Hochul of New York because of Sanctuary State policies.  

Same with the death of Laken Riley, a nursing student at the University of Georgia.  Illegal alien Jose’ Ibarra raped her and bludgeoned her to death.  He had been arrested twice in New York, but released to kill that college coed.

Guess what, there are hundreds of examples of criminals allowed to go free in major cities around America because of elected governors, mayors and judges who support and release criminals back into American society.

At this point, Washington AG Jeanine Piro, after a bunch of teen thugs trashed a Chipotle’s restaurant, said, “I am going to prosecute the parents of those teens to the fullest extent of the law. They are responsible for their children’s actions.”

So, why not make governors, mayors and judges responsible for their part in the killings of law-abiding American citizens?

An even bigger question could be asked:  why are average citizens voting such corrupted governors and mayors like Pritzker, Newsom, Johnson, Johnston, Mamdani, Polis, and many more—-back into office?

This past week, a Chicago cop suffered death from a career criminal with 10-year-long criminal rap sheet.  The judge let him out.  Shouldn’t that judge be held responsible for the cop’s death? 

“A Chicago man with nearly a decade-long rap sheet appeared in court Wednesday after authorities say he killed a police officer and gravely injured another in the latest example of what one city leader called a “joke of a system” that is costing cops their lives.

“Alphanso Talley, 27, is charged with killing Chicago Police Department (CPD) Officer John Bartholomew, 28, at Swedish Hospital on Saturday, April 25. Prosecutors allege Talley also shot another police officer during the incident.  

“He appeared in Cook County Circuit Court on Wednesday after being formally indicted in the first-degree murder and separate armed robbery cases.” 

How does one man accumulate 10-years of criminal activity, and he’s still out on the streets?

Answer: government officials who are incompetent, or corrupt, or nefarious, or crooked, or unprincipled, or unscrupulous, or two-faced, and another ten words that describe such scoundrels. 

How do we get rid of such pathetic government officials? 

While it appears hopeless, we must use our brains, our common sense, and our lawful right to vote people into office who represent and follow-through on law and order.  It’s THAT simple. Otherwise, Governor Pritzker and Mayor Brandon Johnson, who by the way possesses an IQ somewhere between a toothpick and a blade of grass, will continue to release criminals into our midst to kill anyone of us at any time. Ask the parents of Lake Riley or Sheridan Gorman…or another thousand victims.
