Zelensky’s Claims On Kursk Fall Flat? Kyiv Claims Control Of 74 Settlements

The penetration of Ukrainian forces in Kursk continues [14 August 2024]

Russia “Downs 117 Drones, Four Missiles” As Ukraine Targets Airbases Amid Kursk Incursion

Ukraine claims new advances in Russia, Belgorod declares state of emergency

Western military experts have begun to publicly voice all the problems that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will face in Zelensky’s Kursk adventure. The General Staff understood all this perfectly well, which is why the operation was delayed, but politicians pushed through it again, just like the 2023 counteroffensive.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces offensive in the Kursk region could “turn into a defeat” for Ukraine in the long term.

This opinion was expressed by military expert Franz-Stefan Gadi in an interview with Der Spiegel.

“Short-term successes could turn into defeats in the long term. I asked myself what this operation was supposed to achieve. In the long term, expanding the front would be beneficial to Russia, because it has more resources than Ukraine,” he explained.

According to Gadi, the best that Ukraine can achieve in this operation is to force the Russians to withdraw their troops from Donbass, but this has not happened yet.

“Ukraine could take prisoners of war and exchange them for captured Ukrainians. In the best-case scenario, the Russians will withdraw large units from the Donbass front and transfer them to the Kursk region. In this way, the Ukrainians will weaken the Russians in critical areas of the front. Currently, the Russians are transferring only small units from the Donbass front to the Kursk region,” he added.

The expert believes that one of the problems of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk operation is the supply of the attacking group.

“Will Ukraine be able to hold the conquered territory? This is also a question of logistics: does Ukraine provide sufficient personnel and ammunition? We see that the Russians are attacking communication routes with glide bombs and drones. Because of these attacks, it will be difficult for Ukraine to supply its units in Kursk in the long term,” Gadi said.

In his opinion, despite the successes in the Kursk region, the main problem of the Ukrainian Armed Forces – the lack of infantry – remains unresolved.

“Ukraine lacks infantry. The Kursk maneuvers do not help compensate for the acute shortage of personnel in the Donbass. Ukraine is taking a big risk with Operation Kursk. It is using reserves that may not be available in other critical areas of the front,” the expert explained.

He believes that Ukraine’s hope that Russia will withdraw its troops from Donbas is “illusory.”

“Russia has enough reserves to rely on. Instead of withdrawing most of its troops from Donbas, it can take advantage of the situation. The Russians know that the Ukrainians probably have only limited reserves. Now they will be tied up in Kursk. Therefore, Russia may try to make a double effort against the exhausted units in Donbas,” Gadi said.

“Ukraine has been in a negative spiral for several months. For every Ukrainian shell, there are four Russian shells. There are not enough shells for long-range use. Therefore, the artillery is forced to move closer to hit the enemy. As a result, it is less protected and exposed to attacks by Russian Lancet drones,” he added.

Zelensky’s Kursk adventure as a desperate move that many do not yet understand.

We are moving towards freezing the front, says Chmut, head of the “Come Back Alive” foundation.

“We are not moving towards victory now. I hope not towards defeat, but certainly not towards victory… It looks like we are moving towards freezing the front,” he said.

According to him, the government has failed its information policy and, in connection with this, has failed the mobilization.

“People are running out. It seems that many in the country think that people are a renewable resource,” Chmut added.

Our source in the General Staff said that the new front line in the Kursk region is almost 130 km, while our military must hold the entire perimeter with manpower, since there are no defensive structures at all. Now Syrsky is forced to transfer more and more reserves to hold the flanks and constantly supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as was the case during the defense of Bakhmut, while the enemy uses aviation and drones against our units.

The invasion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces into the Kursk region is a geopolitical failure for Bankova.

All attempts by the Office of the President to build constructive relations with the Global South before the announced second Smith of the world have been destroyed.

The intentions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to reach the Kursk NPP will be interpreted by Moscow as Ukraine’s desire to prolong the war and increase escalation, given the stated demands for nuclear safety.

After the invasion of the Kursk region, we will turn away from ourselves for a long time almost the entire Global South. Which will accept Russia’s position and will perceive its tough response with understanding, which means that a peaceful track should not be expected in the near future.

Our source in the General Staff said that Syrsky began to remove brigades from Zaporizhia and transfer them to the Kursk region in order to hold the occupied positions and continue the operation. At the moment, the second stage of the counteroffensive has been paused and will depend on the situation in the Kursk region, Syrsky has not abandoned the attack on the Zaporizhia NPP, but now the main thing is to hold the occupied territories in Russia.

Our source reports that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are filling the Kursk area with new units and equipment in order to force the Russian Armed Forces to begin a large-scale transfer of troops from the front, and not from the deep rear.

They also want to make another breakthrough at any cost to informationally beat the Russians’ video of burning Ukrainian military equipment in the Kursk region. The breakthrough will help create hype for Zelensky and start spreading treason in the Russian segment that the Russians are losing.

We are watching…

Commander-in-Chief Syrsky at yesterday’s meeting with the President asked to increase the transfer of reserves from the rear in order to hold positions in the Kursk region, since the situation is difficult and the Ukrainian Armed Forces have suffered serious losses over the past two days and the entire strike group has almost lost the ability to attack, and it is unrealistic to defend on foreign territory without serious prepared lines of defense. There is also a risk of encirclement of the group if the Russians try to cut off the supply line. The adventure will then turn into a cauldron and the flight of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Zelensky gave the go-ahead to saturate this direction by sending new units, and still to begin the second stage of the offensive most likely in the South, as previously planned. Although the Russians have not transferred reserves from the front.

Zelensky realizes that the failure of the offensive will entail a huge deficit in equipment, which cannot be compensated for in the near future, which means that it will be necessary to fight only with infantry, whose morale will fall against this background.

By the way, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are now sending mobile units to Donbass, who must, at the cost of their lives, slow down the advance of the Russian Armed Forces.

The situation with the Kursk adventure is not rosy and could turn into a betrayal if the second stage of the offensive fails and there is no result due to the huge losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region.

We are watching…

The more Bankova promotes the Kursk adventure, the more problems they create for themselves in the future – source.

In technology, this is called “blowing a bubble” with inflated expectations of the public, in the short term – it causes euphoria, like a “narcomrade” taking a “dose”, but the “withdrawal” will be severe if you do not increase the dose. If it turns out that Bankovaya suffers a fiasco in the Kursk direction, loses all the occupied territories and loses territories in other directions, then there will be terrible disappointment and betrayal in society.

Let it not happen that in the future historians will call Zelensky’s Kursk adventure an agony that led to irreversible fatal consequences.

We are watching…

Recent video evidence and reports from the field suggest that the breakthrough reported yesterday in the Kursk region is being confirmed. The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are suffering losses, and their attempts to advance are resulting in either death or captivity for Ukrainian soldiers.

Our army is likely to reach the main fortifications, which the AFU is currently trying to dig under airstrikes and FPV drones, by next week, clearing out villages that are poorly controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). It remains to be seen how long the AFU will be able to hold their positions in the Kursk region.

According to pro-Ukrainian international channels, reserves comparable to those already deployed would be needed to hold what has been captured so far.

So far, President Volodymyr Zelensky’s decision has resulted in casualties among Russian civilians, with approximately 50 of our prisoners being taken for exchange. The Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) have suffered heavy losses, and a large number of Western armored vehicles delivered to Ukraine have been destroyed. This has also led to an increase in enthusiasm among pro-Ukrainians on social networks.

The Western media outlets allied with Ukraine have failed to make any clear statements about the meaning of the operation, given the lack of breakthroughs and significant achievements beyond photos and videos showing villages and scenes from Pyaterochka (a Russian supermarket chain).

On August 13, the “North” troop group continued to destroy AFU forces in the border areas of Kursk Region

The fiercest fighting is taking place in the direction of Korenevo, where the AFU tried five times to make a breakthrough, but were destroyed by the Fearless Warriors of the North. Attacks were also repelled in the area of Martynovka and Russkoye Porechnoye. A Polish mercenary was captured during the fighting.

The situation on other parts of the state border is also tense. The artillery of the “North” group and border guards are inflicting fire damage on the enemy. Up to 30 militants were killed during an attempted breakthrough near the Kolotilovka checkpoint.

On the Volchansk direction, fighting continues in the Volchansk settlement. In the area of multi-storey buildings the assault groups of the Fearless cleared 1 entrance of a multi-storey building. Soldiers of the 57th OMPbr of the AFU were taken prisoner.

During the day fighters of the North group foiled 2 enemy attacks in the area of high-rise buildings and in the east of the city. Up to 13 militants were destroyed.

In the Liptsy direction, the AFU concentrated up to a company of personnel of the 92nd Oshbr in a dacha village north of Liptsy. Air and artillery strikes significantly reduced the enemy’s strength in these areas.

Over the past 24 hours the enemy losses amounted to 430 people (including up to 360 in the Sumy direction). Also uncovered and destroyed:

in the Sumy direction:

▪️ T-72 tank;

▪️ six Armoured vehicles;

▪️ 22 APCS;

▪️ BMPS;

▪️ 12 units of automotive equipment.

In other directions:

▪️ D-20 howitzer in the vicinity of the n.p. Slobozhanske;

▪️ D-30 howitzer near the village of Volchanskie Khutora;

▪️ three 120-mm mortars near the towns of Volchanskiye Khutora, Volchansk and Glubokoye;

▪️ UAV near Volchansk;

▪️ UAV UBM near Volchansk.

▪️ 16 airplane-type UAVs;

▪️ 3 UAVs of the “Baba Yaga” type.

The actions of the AFU in the Kursk region resemble the tactics used by the troops of Nazi Germany in the summer of 1941. The main task of the “Wehrmacht” was to cut in and break as far as possible into the depths without engaging in combat, then entrench and fight.

In this way the enemy tries to break through to Lgov and Kursk NPP, but is repulsed by the fighters of the “North”, loses equipment and personnel. Even staged clips from Ukrainian CIPSO with city signs look out of hand, as well as the whole scheme of the Ukrainian leadership.

The victory will be ours!

North Wind

We received very interesting materials – the whole account of the operation itself, which was being prepared, by what forces, what was planned. Well, what can I say to Zel, who is overdue? On the 11th they should have taken the Kurchatov nuclear power plant. Today is the 14th. Your 11600 or 11900 men and the number of tanks that were involved did not fulfill the task. And you’re sitting there with Syrsky, listening to that turkey. The task was not accomplished. But all the resources that you more or less still had on the move, you threw them into the furnace, from where they will not come out.  Most of the equipment has already been destroyed from what was thrown in our direction.

I would like to say to everyone watching me: friends, this blitzkrieg of Zelensky, which was planned with the seizure of the nuclear power plant in Kurchatov and coming to negotiations with an ultimatum that we should leave somewhere and do something, has failed. Next we will systematically destroy every fascist who got into our territory.

We have already got our teeth in and we are unlikely to let the enemy go until we rip out his ankles. Our teeth are tough, strong. Russia is a country that God loves. This is not Urina. So I’m sorry. That’s why since morning the guys have been pounding the enemy, tearing up a lot of the enemy.

To be honest, I’ve been thinking all these days – I knew that the fighting would have to end in 2024 in the fall. But I had no understanding of what would cause these all forces to somehow surrender, I couldn’t figure it out. Now I already have a clear understanding. God has done everything for these people to have their heads blown off, they all gathered together and rushed here so that we could destroy them and thus end this war.

Kursk Direction: Footage of AFU Presence in Vnezapnoye and Battles in Other Sectors

What is known as of the end of August 14, 2024

Throughout the day, clashes continued in all sectors of the Kursk Region. The enemy does not abandon attempts to advance deeper into the Kursk Region and is redeploying forces to consolidate control over the occupied territories.

🔻In the Korenevo District, footage has emerged showing Ukrainian formations in the center of the village of Vnezapnoye, although information about the enemy’s presence there appeared yesterday. Given the location of the village on the western bank of the Blyakhovets River, Ukrainian forces may also be present in the village of Gordeyevka, while the status of Viktorovka and Uspenovka remains unclear. However, there have been no reports of fighting in Byakhovo.

🔻In the Sudzha District, the situation remains tense and shrouded in the “fog of war.” Ukrainian media continue to publish stories about “control” over Sudzha, posting footage from the western outskirts and the center.

🔻In the Belovo District, information about high enemy activity emerged during the day, but was not confirmed. Late in the evening, the acting governor of the region reported the mandatory evacuation of the village of Glushkovo.

Kursk Direction: Local Battles and Repelling AFU Attacks

What is known as of 5:00 PM on August 14, 2024

In the Kursk Region, local battles continue, with no advances by the enemy observed – now Ukrainian resources are posting footage from Russian villages that were captured in the early days of the invasion. There has also been a noticeable increase in videos showing the destruction of enemy manpower and armored vehicles.

🔻In the Korenevo District, there are no changes. Russian troops continue to hold Korenevo, while Ukrainian formations are trying to outflank the settlement from the south and north, making “hit-and-run” attacks.

🔻In the Sudzha District, based on emerging footage and statements from the Russian Ministry of Defense, the enemy tried to attack in the area of Skrylevo and Kauchuk, but not very successfully. At the same time, there have been no reports of the liberation of settlements in the “gray zone”.

▪️In Martynivka, Russian troops captured a group of enemy infantry, confirming the repulsion of the attack by Ukrainian formations. At the same time, Mykhailivka appears to remain under enemy control, and several settlements north of Sudzha remain in the “gray zone”.

▪️Several more AFU members were captured in the area of the settlement of Ulanok. At the same time, there were no reports of battles or advances from the direction of Fanaseevka, which means the enemy attacked from the direction of the village of Borki, which is currently in the gray zone.

🔻In the Belovo District, the situation remains largely shrouded in the “fog of war”. Online, there are footage of strikes on Ukrainian formations in the vicinity of Girya, but with a high probability they are archived, and the events captured there occurred the day before.

In the settlement of Kamyshnoe, an artillery strike hit an enemy assault group. However, it is unknown whether the settlement was subsequently cleared, so the status of the village and the neighboring Krupets remains formally in question.

Kursk Direction: Stabilization of the Front Line, Battles for Sumy

What is known as of 2:00 PM on August 14, 2024

The situation in Kursk Region continues to stabilize amid the redeployment of reinforcements of the Russian Armed Forces and partial blocking of maneuverable groups of Ukrainian formations.

🔻In Korenevo District, in the area of Gordeyevka – Nikolayevo-Daryino, the situation is shrouded in the “fog of war”. Despite rumors of the enemy’s capture of Viktorovka and Gordeyevka in previous days, only skirmishes near Gordeyevka are confirmed so far.

In Krasnooktyabr’skoye, an enemy infantry group was spotted yesterday, which apparently got there by bypassing Snagost’. At the same time, the status of both settlements remains unclear.

▪️Local battles continue in the vicinity of Korenevo and to the north. In addition, footage has appeared online of air strikes on enemy concentrations during an attack towards the settlement – they were “covered” in a field two kilometers from Korenevo.

🔻In the northern salient in Sudzha District, the situation also remains unchanged. Russian troops have stopped the enemy near Kremyanoye and Kruglenoye, and in the area of Malaya Loknya, Russian troops have captured several members of the 82nd Airborne Brigade and other enemy units. Battles are ongoing in Sudzha and its environs, although the enemy claims full control over the city.

▪️Footage continues to appear online of captured Ukrainian equipment and gear seized by Russian troops. At the same time, footage from the enemy side is “surfacing” from previously captured settlements, including Plekhovo.

🔻In Belovo District, according to some reports, enemy armored activity is again being recorded in the area of the settlements of Giryy and Belitsa.

In reality, as Alexander Kharchenko (https://t.me/bayraktar1070/2576) notes, the front line is practically stable. Enemy units are operating within the boundaries of the previously formed “gray zone” and cannot advance at the moment, although they do not stop their attempts.

Kursk Region Summary for the morning of August 14, 2024

▪️ Overnight, our air defense was active, the governor reported 4 enemy missiles shot down.

▪️ According to the regional operations headquarters, another two thousand people were evacuated from the border areas over the past day. There are 77 temporary accommodation centers operating in the Kursk region.

▪️ The enemy is not reducing the intensity of raid operations, despite losses. Due to the lack of a unified front line, mobile AFU groups are being sent out from the occupied bridgehead. The enemy yesterday entered the settlement of Spalnoye in the south, came under fire near the settlement of Kauchuk (https://t.me/dva_majors/49697). In the Korenevo direction, there were battles near Snahost, the AFU were spotted near Olhovka. In Sudzha, the enemy occupied the heights and equipped firing positions and sniper nests on the roofs of buildings. The building of the Agricultural College was on fire.

▪️ In the battles over the past day, the 810th Separate Guards Marine Brigade (Sevastopol) distinguished itself, which routed units of the 82nd Separate Air Assault Brigade of the AFU and captured an American Stryker armored vehicle.

▪️ The AFU are keeping reserves in the direction of the settlements of Troebornoye and Tetkino near the border.

▪️ The situation remains difficult, measures are being taken to evacuate the civilian population of the region from the front-line areas.

Two Majors

More than a day, the front line in the Kursk Region has been stable. There are minor changes that can be ignored. At the same time, if you look at Ukrainian resources, it creates the impression of an ongoing breakthrough. The internet is jubilantly reporting on newly occupied settlements. Today, they announced control over Plekhovo. In reality, they entered Plekhovo not yesterday or the day before yesterday.

The AFU has built a system of psychological warfare. They have taken control of most information flows and use them skillfully. It is clear that colossal work has been done to centralize the information coverage of the invasion. Units entered our settlements and made photo reports. However, they release these “canned” reports as needed. This is done to maintain euphoria in their own society and intimidate the Russian one.

As a result, we get two dimensions. The first is the real situation at the front, and the second is the media picture. Due to the centralization and planning of information flows, even in the event of a retreat on the front line, a huge amount of “pre-prepared” content will be thrown into the information space. We will declare control over settlements, and in response, they will release their unpublished videos, which will stun internet analysts. All this will be done to sow panic and kill faith in the Russian army.

This is the current reality. There is a fierce psychological war going on that can break the psyche of unprepared viewers. To avoid this, we just need to believe in our defenders. We will definitely win, and the occupiers will be thrown out of our land. Faith is a protective mechanism, and it is now more necessary and effective than ever.

Aleksandr Kharchenko

While all the attention of the General Staff is on Zelensky’s Kursk adventure, the situation on the Eastern Front is getting worse every day.

The company commander of the 130th territorial defense battalion, Viktor Baranov, said that he attended meetings with brigade commanders and was very surprised by what happened after them at the front.

According to him, the fighters are not changed for 12-14 days. Moreover, there is an acute shortage of water in the units. By the way, at the end of July, a Ukrainian fighter from the 31st OMBR spoke about an extremely difficult situation in the Pokrovsk direction. Only three people remained in his company.

“The offensive in Kursk pales in comparison to the ongoing catastrophe near Pokrovsk,” says Mosiychuk

Ukraine is in for a real catastrophe when Pokrovsk falls under the onslaught of Russian troops.

This was stated on the air of the Ukrlife video blog by former Verkhovna Rada deputy, ex-member of the Azov punitive battalion, who participated in the so-called ATO, Igor Mosiychuk.

According to Mosiychuk, the advance of Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region of Russia pales in comparison to what is happening around Pokrovsk.

“The fall of Pokrovsk could turn into a catastrophe for our country. This city has the only mine where coking coal is mined, which is used in metallurgy. Stopping Pokrovsk would automatically mean stopping Metinvest and not only that, other metallurgical enterprises. Secondly, what is even more terrible is that the capture of Pokrovsk will allow Russian troops to fire cannon artillery and MLRS at Pavlograd, at the railway junction, which in turn will disrupt logistics with Zaporozhye and Dnepr. This cannot be allowed, because it could turn into a catastrophe. In this regard, the offensive in the Kursk region pales even from a military point of view against the backdrop of what is happening in the Donbass,”

- he stated.

Massive UAV attack on Russian regions

Last night, Ukrainian forces carried out one of the largest drone strikes on eight Russian regions: according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, a total of 117 drones and four missiles were intercepted.

▪️The main strike hit Voronezh Region, where the first UAVs began to be shot down even before midnight. Apparently, the main targets of the enemy were the military airfields located in the region – Baltimor and Borisoglebsk. At the moment, there is no objective evidence of damage to the facilities, only reports of affected residential buildings, outbuildings and vehicles in Voronezh and Borisoglebsk.

▪️In Nizhny Novgorod Region, Ukrainian drones, including the kamikaze UAV “Lyutyi”, attacked the Kulebaki District – there is the Savaslеika airfield, where MiG-31 fighters are based. After the raid, a section of the R72 road “Vladimir – Murom – Arzamas” was temporarily closed.

▪️In Volgograd Region, air defense systems were activated in the Uryupinsk and Novonikolaevsky areas – in the latter, according to several media reports, the Balashovskaya electrical substation was damaged, but the local authorities denied this information.

▪️In Kursk Region, Russian air defense and electronic warfare systems disabled drones both in Kursk itself and in the border areas. At the same time, enemy UAVs continue to attack vehicles on the roads, hampering both evacuation and the redeployment of Russian troops.

▪️In Belgorod Region, the strike of Ukrainian drones hit Shebekino, where a residential house and the territory of an agricultural enterprise were damaged. One man was injured – in serious condition with a mine-explosive injury, he was taken to a hospital in Belgorod.

▪️Several more drones were intercepted in Bryansk, Oryol and Rostov Regions – according to the latest information, no damage was recorded there.

🔻Recently, Ukrainian forces have been focusing on strikes on military airfields – a few days ago, an ammunition depot (https://t.me/rybar/62610) was hit on the territory of Lipetsk-2, and last night three more objects were attacked, where, according to some data (https://t.me/fighter_bomber/17734), there were also consequences.

The increasing massive raids on Russian regions demonstrate the high volume of drone production by the enemy, where the release of new UAVs fully covers the consumption of devices during previous raids.

At the same time, drones are often detected even before reaching the border, but due to the still existing complexity in organizing, coordinating and controlling the interception, it is not possible to shoot down the devices flying along the same corridors.

Chronicles of the special military operation

for August 14, 2024

Russian forces delivered another series of strikes on targets in the territory controlled by the Kyiv regime in Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Mykolaiv, Kyiv and other regions. In the evening, an explosion was heard in the port of Odesa.

Ukrainian formations carried out one of the most massive drone strikes on the territory of Russia since the start of the SMO. The targets were the military airfields of Baltimore and Borisoglebsk in Voronezh Region, as well as Savasleika in Nizhny Novgorod Region.

In the Kursk direction, footage has appeared indicating that the AFU control the village of Vnezapnoye in the Korenevo district. In the Sudzha district, the front line has not undergone significant changes.

In the Slobozhansky direction, Russian forces repelled another attack by the enemy in the area of the Kolotilovka border crossing, and were also able to significantly expand the control zone east of the village of Lukiyntsy.

In the Oleksandrivka-Kalinovo direction, a “cauldron” is gradually forming east of Novhorodske (New York). At the same time, fighting continues unabated in Druzhba, Kirovo and Artemovo, where the Russian Armed Forces are also advancing in combat.
