Situation in Kursk Region – What is Known as of 1 PM
This morning, Ukrainian formations attempted an offensive in the Kursk Region – at the moment, the main events are unfolding in the Sudzha and Korenevo districts. The information about the enemy’s attempt to break through was also confirmed by the acting head of the region, Alexey Smirnov.
▪️ Overnight, the AFU struck across the entire Kursk Region, launching at least 26 drones. The most hits were in Sudzha, where five civilians, including three children, were injured. Footage of severe damage to residential buildings is circulating online.
▪️ Later, Ukrainian formations launched attacks in several areas. In the Korenevo district, the enemy began moving from Vladimirka towards Gordeyevka. In the Sudzha district, the enemy’s offensive is developing from the Sudzha border crossing and the Glubokoe tract.
The main blow of the AFU is directed at Goncharovka and Kurilovka. According to reports, the enemy managed to wedge along the 38K-004 highway, where at least three Ukrainian tanks and a group of infantry were spotted near the Sudzha border crossing. Several armored vehicles were destroyed.
Another direction of the enemy’s attacks was the line Nikolayevo-Daryino – Sverdlikovo: according to preliminary information, battles are ongoing on the outskirts of the settlements. In this area, AFU armored vehicles with a new triangular tactical identification mark were also spotted.
▪️ In Ukrainian media, the ongoing events are presented from diametrically opposite positions: while some call the offensive an information-psychological operation by the Russian authorities, others, in their usual manner, exaggerate the successes, talking about the start of battles almost in Sudzha itself.
❗️ Against the backdrop of Ukrainian attacks, several Russian media reported that overnight – early in the morning, Russian UAV operators noticed a concentration of enemy forces along the border, but due to bureaucratic delays and fear of making a decision, no one gave the order to deliver a fire strike.
🔻 Nevertheless, the Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk Region is nothing new – another PR stunt by the enemy, similar to last year’s attacks in the border areas. And the goals of such AFU actions are obvious: distracting their own population from failures on other parts of the front, as well as an attempt to stretch the forces of the “North” grouping, forcing the transfer of units from the Volchansk and Glubokoe directions.
All past attempts (https://t.me/rybar/58195) by Ukrainian formations to enter the border areas of the Belgorod and Kursk Regions have always ended for them with significant losses and retreat. And although the outcome of the enemy’s new attempt does not raise doubts, the threat of new AFU offensives will continue to reinforce the question of the need for a “sanitary zone” around the Russian border.
Situation in Kursk Region – What is Known as of 8:00 PM
The situation in Kursk Region remains tense: at the moment, the main battles are still ongoing in the Sudzha and Korenevo districts, where, according to the latest footage, Ukrainian formations have managed to advance.
▪️From the direction of Sverdlikovo, AFU units on Stryker APCs were able to reach the Rylsk – Sudzha highway, along which they tried to advance towards the settlement of Zeleny Shlyakh. However, on the section of the highway east of the village of Nizhny Klyn, the enemy’s armored group fell into an ambush (https://t.me/dva_majors/48940), and the equipment itself was later destroyed by drones.

▪️Ukrainian media are actively circulating videos with captured Russian servicemen in the area of Glubokoe Ravine, from where AFU units previously tried to advance towards Kurilovka. A photo of a burned-out Russian Ka-52 helicopter has also appeared.
▪️At the same time, clashes continue on the section of the 38K-004 highway near the Sudzha border crossing, as well as in the area of the village of Gordeevka. However, due to the lack of objective control footage, it is difficult to establish the exact configuration of the front in these areas.
▪️Ukrainian formations continue to strike with artillery and drones throughout the Kursk Region. According to the latest data, three people were killed in the region, and at least 18 were injured, including children.
Russian troops are also firing at the positions and concentration areas of the enemy – one of the targets hit was a Ukrainian Buk-M1 air defense system, which was destroyed by a missile strike north of the village of Sennoe in the Sumy Region.
🔻It is not worth expecting the attacks to stop soon: fierce battles continue in the Kursk Region, and the activation of Ukrainian formations in other areas cannot be ruled out either. Moreover, the enemy’s actions seem to indicate a plan related to an offensive in the most “narrow” areas in order to force the Russian Armed Forces to redeploy forces from other directions.
From an information point of view, the enemy has obtained the necessary footage, both with the capture of Russian servicemen and with the advance by 6 km from the border, even if the evidence is the footage of their own destroyed armored personnel carriers. However, this will be more than enough to outweigh negative news items for themselves, such as the loss of control over Novgorodskoye.
AFU tried to break into the territory of the region in the border Sudzhansky and Korenevsky districts;
Fighters of the Border Service of the FSB of Russia and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation did not allow a breakthrough of the border;

- Today from 8.00 a.m. Moscow time the enemy, after fire preparations, by forces of up to three hundred fighters from the 22nd mechanized brigade of the AFU supported by 11 tanks and more than 20 armored fighting vehicles attacked positions of the State Border Guard units in the areas of Nikolayevo-Daryino and Oleshnya of Kursk region adjacent to the border.
- Our troops and the Russian Federal Security Service’s border forces are repelling the attacks and inflicting fire damage on the enemy near the border and reserves in the Sumy region.
- Operational-tactical and attack aviation strikes on concentrations of AFU manpower and equipment in the areas of Basovka, Zhuravka, Khoten, Yunakovka, Belovodka, Hrapovshchina in Sumy region. Army aviation is effectively used against the enemy armored vehicles. The reserves of the Russian group of troops in the Kursk direction have moved to the area of the clash.
- As a result of the strikes, 16 units of AFU armored vehicles were destroyed, including: 6 tanks, 2 BMPs, 4 APCs, 3 Kozak armored vehicles and an engineer demolition vehicle.
First, the Russian side was not only prepared for an attempt by the AFU to break through to the border, but also had the ability to cover accumulations of equipment on the Ukrainian side, and to do so quickly.

Third, even some Ukrainian sources have already realized that allocating half a brigade to an incomprehensible strike along the border is dementia + imbecility.
It should be said that one of the threats – in particular, FAB-500 aerial bombs – was adequately assessed by the AFU, even, perhaps, too much. But even this scenario was apparently calculated in advance by the command of the Russian Armed Forces cover group, and the Iskanders were prepared in advance for the AFU air defense systems.
It is also worth adding that the 11 tanks and numerous APCs that will soon burn to the west of the Russian border will almost certainly not reach any of the other sections of the front. There is nothing to say about the importance of destroying the air defense equipment that was haplessly placed virtually in a clear field before the Ukrainian attack.
The boys had enough: AFU abandoned their armored vehicles and ran away. The raid on Kursk Region was not much different from the previous ones in Belgorod Region.
The situation in the combat zone on the border of Sumy and Kursk regions remains difficult. Ukrainian formations carry out the bulk of their attacks using various types of drones, but military equipment is actively moving in the border area.
Why Kursk region?
This is the same border (and so far frontline) region of Russia as Belgorod. However, unlike the borders of the Belgorod region, terrorist activity here was lower. Partly this, as well as the belief of the GUR leadership and foreign (primarily British) specialists in sabotage operations in the weak protection of the border became the reasons why the attack is being carried out where it is being carried out.
What is the cause of the blow?
In addition to the traditional media effect and demonstration of the ability to carry out at least some offensive actions, the very fact of the strike was influenced by the inability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to achieve minimal success in a conventional war (war by conventional means). Losing advantages in a classic military confrontation, Ukraine is increasingly falling into a terrorist and sabotage war. In this regard, it would not be superfluous to say that the attack on the Wagner PMC in Mali and local drone raids are links in the same chain. Loud, bright, but unable to change the situation or have a minimal impact on it. At the same time, the goal, apparently, as in the case of the Belgorod region, remains standard: go in, take a photo, throw the video on the Internet and distribute it as much as possible. There can be no military objectives in this sense.
What do they use to strike?
During the first and second attempts to strike the Belgorod region, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted to carry out most of their combat work using light vehicles, which were covered by tanks, and actively used mine-clearing vehicles to pave roads through minefields. It is noteworthy that the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not skimp on using the scarce Stryker armored personnel carriers for the raid on the Kursk border. The Ukrainian army received about 250 vehicles of this type, and a significant portion has already been lost during the fighting in the Zaporizhzhya direction, near Vovchansk, behind Chasovy Yar and in other directions. It is noteworthy that only three units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have vehicles of this type: the 42nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, the 82nd Airborne Assault Brigade and the 80th Airborne Assault Brigade. At the same time, judging by everything, the GUR is also participating in the attack – a service unsuitable for conducting combat operations in a conventional defense zone and capable only of conducting combat operations of a sabotage nature.
If there are both weapons and opportunities, why is the attack being carried out on the Kursk region?
Because a sabotage operation, especially a short-term one, is the most effective way to quickly make noise, get the necessary media effect and not lose most of the units. However, in the case of Belgorod, this calculation did not work – and after several intense days of fighting, it was possible to achieve only a limited fluctuation of the information space. It would be difficult to act at the front with such forces, but in the border area, the sabotage forces of the GUR and the Armed Forces of Ukraine are already suffering losses, and soon (probably in a couple of days) the first figures on losses will follow.
If that’s the case, then what’s the point?
Most likely, in addition to the media effect, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are trying to distract the attention of the Russian Armed Forces from another section of the front, probably from Chasovoyarsk or Kharkov, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ position is especially difficult.
It is right that who cares about the loss of New York, where the enemy hung the Russian flag.
Of course not, they decided to send reserves to the front, at headquarters they decided to act according to the classic scenario – send elite units to attack Russian territory.
