Best Player Prop Bets for Ravens-Steelers

Derrick Henry T.J. Watt

The Pittsburgh Steelers travel to Baltimore Saturday evening to square off against the Ravens in what is without a doubt the biggest game of the season for both teams. The Steelers have a potential hat and t-shirt game, as a win for them gives them the AFC North title. A win for the Ravens brings both teams to 10-5, and with a more favorable final two games, puts the Ravens in a good spot to claim the division.  The idea of the Steelers celebrating a division title in Baltimore should make anyone associated with the Ravens blood run cold, and considering how the last contest went back in November, we can be sure the Ravens will be as motivated as ever to come out victorious this Saturday. The Ravens have some positive momentum headed into this game as they come off a clean 35-14 victory against the New York Giants. We were able to go 3-2 in our player prop selections for that game, bringing our overall record to 44-21.

In a huge matchup against the Ravens biggest rival, here are the best player prop bets for Ravens Steelers I’ll be taking.

Let’s stay hot!

Lamar Jackson Over 49.5 Rushing Yards (-113 FanDuel)

It’s become obvious that Lamar is making it more of an emphasis to use his legs down the stretch of this season. In what is the biggest game of this campaign to date, we can expect another heavy dose of Lamar running the ball. Offensive coordinator Todd Monken seems to be in favor of this strategy and is doing whatever he can to give Lamar opportunities in space. Per NFL Pro, Lamar has averaged 4.8 designed runs per game this season, nearly one full designed run per game more than last season. On such plays, Lamar has recorded twice as many explosive runs than any other quarterback. Lamar being electric on the ground is no surprise to anyone who is familiar with his game, and 49.5 rushing yards is a total he can get in his sleep if he is looking to break the game open with his legs.

Derrick Henry Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-180 FanDuel)

We have not been able to include this in any of our picks since Week 3 due to Henry’s sheer volume of touchdowns bumping the odds down to as low as -380. After scoring a touchdown in the first 11 games of the season, Henry hasn’t found the end zone in the last three games, allowing the odds to shift back to a more favorable -180. That, to me, is value we simply cannot pass up for an all-pro running back in this offense. There will be a time in this game where the Ravens are in a goal to go scenario, and they will give the ball to Henry when that time comes. Plain and simple.  For as long as Derrick Henry is a Raven, and the odds for him to score a touchdown are anywhere near this mark, it is a must hit.

Isaiah Likely Over 2.5 Receptions (+108 FanDuel)

After a career game in week one against the Chiefs, Isaiah Likely cooled off for a significant stretch of the season. Don’t get it twisted though, Likely is still an integral part of the Ravens offense, racking up 10 targets over the last two games. With those targets, Likely had seven receptions for 55 yards and a touchdown. When the offense is clicking, the Ravens have the ability to utilize Likely as somewhat of the forgotten asset in this offense. Defenses are forced to pay close attention to the likes of Derrick Henry, Mark Andrews, Zay Flowers, Lamar Jackson etc., leaving plenty of opportunities for the young tight end to get open. Likely had success against Pittsburgh last time the two teams faced off (other than the fumble) with four receptions on five targets for 75 yards. Three receptions shouldn’t be difficult for Likely if he gets the looks, as his production has ticked up in recent weeks.

Russell Wilson Under 209.5 Passing Yards (-113 FanDuel)

This prop is trending in this direction either way you look at it. As we’ve seen throughout the course of this season, the Ravens defense has turned a corner. The positive momentum continued last week against the struggling Giants offense, surrendering only 191 yards between Tommy Devito and Tim Boyle. Russell Wilson on the other hand has seen a significant drop off in production over the last two weeks, averaging 143 passing yards per game. The underlying factor there is that he has been without his number 1 wider receiver George Pickens, who will not suit up Saturday in Baltimore. Without Pickens, the Steelers lack a true weapon that can get open consistently, so Wilson will most likely have to rely on the short and intermediate passing game to move the ball down the field. I have faith in the Ravens defense to show up against Pittsburgh and hold Wilson under this mark on Saturday.

Van Jefferson Under 17.5 Yards (-113 FanDuel)

I mentioned above how without Pickens, the Steelers lack weapons on the outside that pose a threat to the Ravens secondary. Van Jefferson is one of the weapons the Steelers have attempted to get going in Pickens absence, and simply put, it hasn’t worked out. In two games as the primary WR2, Jefferson has two receptions for 10 yards on three targets. Calvin Austin and Pat Freiermuth have been Russell Wilson’s only consistent options throughout this stint, and I expect that trend to continue. The Ravens corners have been a bright spot during this defensive turnaround as well, specifically Marlon Humphrey and Nate Wiggins. From a pure matchup perspective, I like the Ravens corners here, especially considering Jefferson’s lack of production with his increased opportunities.
