TV GEEK: What to Watch While the Ravens Are Idle
The Ravens have a much-needed bye this week. Hopefully they can make some adjustments and come out ready to make a run starting in Week 7 hosting the Chicago Bears. With the Ravens on bye, what should Ravens fans pay attention to this week? Here is your “viewing guide” for the upcoming Week 7 games, where I will rate each game’s “watchability index” from 1 to 10.
Thursday Night
Steelers at Bengals
Obviously, if the Ravens want any hope to crawl back into the division race, they need the Steelers to slip up. Division games are often unpredictable in the AFC North, so it’s possible old friend Joe Flacco can make this game entertaining and keep the Bengals in it.
However, most likely, it will be another sickening cleat of reality to Ravens fans watching the Steelers go to 5-1 with a commanding lead in the division. In typical Steelers opponent fashion, expect Cincy to turn the ball over in the red zone a few times.

Sunday 9:30 AM
Rams vs. Jaguars
Despite their 4-2 record, I still don’t trust the Jacksonville Jaguars. But, this game is in London and the London Jaguars always play well. I expect this to be a very good game.
Watchability index: 7 out of 10
Sunday 1:00 PM
Saints at Bears
The Saints are not good. The Bears are inconsistent. Not much to see here.
Watchability index: 3 out of 10
Dolphins at Browns
If you like bad offense, this is your game. Other than that and scouting Miami for the Ravens’ Week 8 trip to South Beach, no reason to watch.
Watchability index: 1 out of 10
Patriots at Titans
The Patriots are inconsistent, but the Titans are bad. The Titans defense could keep this one close, making it slightly intriguing. Also, if you like storylines, it’s Mike Vrabel returning to face the Titans after they fired him.
Watchability index: 3 out of 10
Raiders at Chiefs
If you want to see 100+ shots of Taylor Swift and Caitlin Clark, watch this game. If not, spare yourself from hearing about how “amazing” the Chiefs are. Giving it a 2 just because Patrick Mahomes is likely to make at least one or two incredible plays.
Watchability index: 2 out of 10
Eagles at Vikings
This is an important game for both teams. The Eagles, despite being 4-2, have not looked good and are coming in after back-to-back losses to the Broncos and Giants. The Vikings have been inconsistent and it looks like J.J. McCarthy will be back. He’s played one good quarter so far. Supposedly Kevin O’Connell has spent the bye week working with McCarthy to try to get him back on track. This is a game where anything can happen, so it is definitely worth a watch.
Watchability index: 8 out o10
Panthers at Jets
The Panthers are inconsistent. The Jets stink. I guess it’s slightly intriguing to see which Panthers team shows up.
Watchability index: 2 out of 10
Sunday Late Window
Giants at Broncos (4:05)
While the Giants might not be a good team, they sure are fun to watch with Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo! They have a tough task against a solid Broncos defense. But the Broncos have been inconsistent this year, especially on offense, so this could be a close contest.
Watchability index: 6 out of 10
Colts at Chargers (4:05)
Two playoff contenders going at it makes for a great game. I keep waiting for the Daniel Jones’ fall, but it hasn’t happened yet. The Chargers rebounded last week after two straight losses, despite being down their top two RBs. I think this will be a hard-fought contest that comes down to the wire.
Watchability index: 8 out of 10
Commanders at Cowboys (4:25)
This is a big game for both teams. The Commanders blew a chance to tie the Eagles for first place with their loss to the Bears and find themselves 3-3. The Cowboys are trying to stay relevant in a tough NFC at 2-3-1. A loss for both teams in this game will greatly hurt their playoff chances. Add in the division rivalry, and this should be a great football game.
Watchability index: 8 out of 10
Packers at Cardinals (4:25)
On paper, the Packers should win this game, but they have been very inconsistent, including a loss to the Browns and a tie to the Cowboys. The Cardinals have been competitive but have found ways to lose.
Watchability index: 6 out of 10
Sunday Night
Falcons at 49ers
I’ll be honest. I thought the Falcons were on their way to another lousy season after their 30-0 loss to the Carolina Panthers Week 3. However, after that, they’ve now beaten two playoff contenders in the Washington Commanders Week 4 and the Buffalo Bills in Week 6. The 49ers are having tons of injury issues, but they are always competitive. This has the makings of a very watchable game.
Watchability index: 7 out of 10
Monday Night
Buccaneers at Lions (7:00)
This should be a fun high-scoring affair. Both offenses are explosive and both defenses are questionable. This should be a thriller!
Watchability index: 9 out of 10
Texans at Seahawks (10:00)
I know the Texans looked great against the Ravens, but they haven’t against anybody else. I think Mike Macdonald’s team will get pressure on C.J. Stroud and it will be a long night for Houston. I don’t think this one is worth staying up for. Get some sleep and be ready for work on Tuesday morning.
