OTL: Ravens Doomed by Organizational Stubbornness
I’m not going to beat a dead horse today – We know the Ravens got hosed multiple times on Sunday afternoon. All the same, they had numerous opportunities to take over their matchup with Pittsburgh and failed to do so.
Ultimately, this Baltimore Ravens team just isn’t that good.
I think that was a TD to Likely. I think the Rodgers tipped pass was intercepted. Don’t let that distract you from the reality that the Ravens aren’t a very good football team

If you need more proof, take a look at their wins this season:
Ravens wins this year
3-10 Browns
9-4 Bears
6-7 Dolphins
5-8 Vikings
3-10 Browns
3-10 Jets

Yes, there’s a very real chance that they still make the playoffs.

Yes, if they somehow pull off the run necessary to do it then they’ll have the talent to continue that run into January. Is that likely to happen? I don’t think so.
So, while I’ve tried to give the organization the benefit of the doubt for most of the season, I’ve officially turned attention to next steps.
It seems a large chunk of the Ravens Flock has, as well:
This far into the season it would be a bad idea to fire a HC or coordinator imo but someone like George Warhop (OL Coach) should be fired today. As bad as BOTH guards have been (Vorhees is just as bad as 77) these coaches have to be held responsible for the lack of ANY…

Klint Kubiak and Jesse minter. Those are the two names I feel good about as next head coach.

It’s not just Ravens fans, either. Yahoo! Sports’ Frank Schwab highlights why HC John Harbaugh may have a hotter seat than any other coaches in the league. It’s an interesting read:
We kept talking about whether it was time for Mike Tomlin and the Steelers to part ways. What if, the entire time, we should have been having that same conversation about John Harbaugh instead?

In my opinion, both Harbaugh and GM Eric DeCosta deserve blame for the fundamental flaws of the 2025 Baltimore Ravens. That said, I believe DeCosta’s previous roster construction and the fact that Baltimore started the season as Super Bowl favorites lends him a longer leash.
Harbaugh, on the other hand, may have met the end of his. Let’s not forget: Harbaugh benefitted from a 2012 Super Bowl win and a 180-degree turnaround when QB Lamar Jackson replaced the struggling Joe Flacco in 2018.
As Yuri highlights, the gripes fans have had with Harbaugh this year are issues we’ve had for years:
This season truly has been a hallmark of John Harbaughs last 7+ years of his time with the ravens
Being fined for trying to play the injury report game, placing guys on the inactive list in favor of special teams crash dummies and playing his favorites

First and foremost, Harbaugh’s staff has failed to deliver on its promise. While OC Todd Monken had a hot start to his tenure in Charm City, the offense looks disjointed. We’ll get to that soon. On the defensive side, DC Zach Orr’s unit has improved but is unable to turn the ball over or generate pressure. Remember, these were focal points for the staff this offseason:
Ravens defense has forced 14 takeaways this year
That ranks 27th in the league

Alongside the fact that Baltimore’s staff is either not on the same page or struggling to executive according to Harbaugh’s vision, his time management and game-flow decision-making have been a perennial issue.
Even Sunday, with the game on the line, this reared its head:

Next, of course, is his stubbornness. I know I said I won’t beat a dead horse, but I will when it comes to Daniel Faalele, who for some inexplicable reason continues to be supported by the staff. Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson went in about this a few days ago, but the tape speaks for itself:
Shannon Sharpe & Ocho absolutely COOK #77 Daniel Faalele (Deserved)
My favorite Quotes:
– “You shouldn’t be allowed to be that Big & Sorry. He’s as big as he is sorry. For NO reason”– “On film he’s always at the scene of the crime”
– “He can’t even block the sun out his eyes”… pic.twitter.com/d9d0yQNoLN

It’s not about Faalele anymore. It’s beyond that. It’s about Harbaugh being perfectly fine with putting a guy like this on the field to protect Lamar Jackson. Harbaugh has defended this guy all season and continues to defend him even after this game. How is this possible? GTFOH! https://t.co/fGr25xXhls

Ravens don’t even make football fun to watch because half the time on offense your eyes as a fan of the team are always locked onto the guard spots

But again, favoritism is a consistent theme with Harbaugh at the helm:
Harbaugh isn’t just stubborn about Faalele. His stubborn ways have caused so much harm to the team.
— Skepticgoat (@skepticgoat) December 8, 2025
Remember just a few months back when Keaton Mitchell couldn’t find the field?
Most importantly, however, it seems Harbaugh’s message is falling on deaf ears. While there’s little evidence to prove this, the play and development of non-stars across the Ravens roster speaks volumes to me:
I’ve been trying to think about which Ravens have actually exceeded my expectations this year, and it’s not a lot:
Buchanan, Jenkins, Awuzie, Loop and Stout?
Mitchell has looked fast, which was something I wanted to see again this year, so, there’s that.— Darin J. McCann (@DarinMccann) December 9, 2025
While some of this falls on the players, motivation has to be a factor, as well.
At the end of the day, while this might’ve seemed like a rant, it’s time for Steve Bisciotti to incite change in Baltimore. Otherwise, a catastrophic one might be inevitable:
I hope Felicia Jones in Lamar’s ear telling him to not even come to the table for an extension until the organization shows they’re committed to change, after wasting not one but two of her son’s contracts.
