Big 12 fires shot at Notre Dame amid SEC conversations
Notre Dame has gotten into some drama with Power 4 conferences amid its battle with the ACC this week.

The ACC campaigned hard for Miami to bump ND in the final College Football Playoff bracket, which it did.
On Tuesday, athletic director Pete Bevacqua told reporters that he plans to meet with ACC leadership about how it handled its social media and television campaign in the final month of the season.
“I’d tell you at this point we haven’t really given that a ton of thought,” Bevacqua said. “Are we looking for an apology? Quite frankly, I don’t think an apology does anything or unwinds what has happened.
“But at the right time we’ll sit down with the ACC leadership and I think hopefully have a frank, honest, hopefully a productive conversation. But I’ll tell you that time is not now.”

Per Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports, Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark called out Bevacqua for taking a shot at ACC commissioner Jim Phillis.
“I don’t like it,” Yormark said. “His behavior has been egregious. It’s egregious going after Jim Phillips.”
Amid ND’s drama this week, Bevacqua said he had been in contact with SEC commissioner Greg Sankey. While he said the two talked about changing the CFP format, he declined to offer more details on other issues they discussed privately.
“Since Sunday, the only Commissioner I’ve spoken to, a couple of great conversations with him is Greg Sankey,” Bevacqua said. “Greg and I talk all the time. I can’t tell you how much I admire Greg and his leadership. And good conversation is really about format, process–gave him my viewpoint on the process.
“He shared some thoughts that he had with me that obviously between Greg and me.”
The end of the Irish-ACC partnership?

There has been speculation the Irish could try and get out of its agreement with the ACC and find a deal with a new conference.
Earlier this week, Phillips released a statement on why the ACC acted the way it did during the football season.
“The University of Notre Dame is an incredibly valued member of the ACC and there is tremendous
respect and appreciation for the entire institution,” Phillips wrote, via Matt Fortuna.
“With that said, when it comes to football, we have a responsibility to support and advocate for all 17 of our football-playing member institutions, and I stand behind our conference efforts to do just that leading up to the College Football Playoff Committee selections on Sunday.”
Phillips didn’t think the ACC stepped its bounds.
“At no time was it suggested by the ACC that Notre Dame was not a worthy candidate for inclusion in the field. We are thrilled for the University of Miami while also understanding and appreciating the significant disappointment of the Notre Dame players, coaches and program.”

The Irish don’t feel that way. But it doesn’t look like the Big 12 is ready to take on a big headache like Notre Dame, even with the money they bring to conferences.
