Proof that Chicago Bears receivers screwed Caleb Williams this season

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears

Caleb Williams couldn’t quite get to 4,000 yards, but he did manage to set the Chicago Bears‘ single-season record for passing yards, finishing with 3,942 this year.

But how many more yards could Williams have had?

Well, Bears pass-catchers definitely left a considerable amount of yardage on the field for the second-year quarterback. In fact, Williams led the NFL in passing yards lost due to drops this season, finishing with 404 in that category.

Williams finished just 58 yards away from 4,000. Remove that much yardage from those 404 yards, and Williams still would have finished second in the league behind Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford in that dreadful statistic.

Nice job, receivers.

Williams definitely got off to a slow start this season and was very inconsistent during the first half of the year, but he put together a scintillating run starting with Chicago’s win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Nov. 2.

From that point moving forward, the former No. 1 overall pick totaled 18 passing touchdowns and just three interceptions, one of which came during the Bears’ regular-season finale against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

On the 2025 campaign overall, Williams amassed 27 touchdowns and seven picks while completing 58.1 percent of his throws and posting a 90.1 passer rating. He also rushed for 388 yards and three scores.

Obviously, the completion percentage could stand to improve, and there are still some aspects to Williams’ game that could use some tweaking. But there is no doubt that the 24-year-old displayed significant progress down the stretch, and that was with No. 1 receiver Rome Odunze missing the final five games of the season.

Can Caleb Williams do it in the playoffs?

Now, the question is whether or not Williams — who showed a flare for the dramatic this year — can produce in the playoffs.

The Bears will be facing the hated rival Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round this Saturday, marking the third time Chicago will see the Packers within the last six weeks. The Bears lost the initial matchup in Green Bay back on Dec. 7 but then rallied to beat the Packers at home two weeks later.

Chicago will be hosting the matchup at Soldier Field after having won the NFC North division crown, but this will be a difficult game for Williams and Co.

We’ll see if Williams can get it done when it really counts.
