Chicago Bears could reunite with giant 6-foot-5 protector amid coach’s plea
The Chicago Bears are going into the offseason without a clear picture for the left tackle position.

Last week, Bears general manager Ryan Poles revealed Ozzy Trapilo was expected to miss most of the upcoming season due to a knee injury he suffered in the wild card win over the Green Bay Packers .
Chicago re-signed Theo Benedet, but Braxton Jones is set to head into free agency.
Bears offensive line coach Dan Roushar recently appeared on Terron Armstead’s podcast “The Set” and talked about the left tackle position. He urged the Bears front office to look at adding a left tackle in free agency.
“I know what the left tackle position looks like in this league,” Roushar said. “(Armstead is) the standard. That’s a rare player that comes along. But somebody has to play that position similar to that. It’s a faceless, nameless guy right now.
“Is that player in the building? There’s guys that have traits, but not consistent enough… So that’s to be determined.”
With the Bears picking at No. 25, Roushar isn’t convinced the team can draft a Day 1 starter at left tackle.
A former offensive tackle for Chicago could be on the radar of Poles.
Per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Larry Borom is gaining interest from several teams around the league and could get a starting salary in 2026.
“Dolphins offensive tackle Larry Borom: He’s in position for low-end starter’s money after starting 11 games for the Dolphins last season,” Fowler wrote.
Could Larry Borom return to the Chicago Bears?

More News: Bears draft controversy with NFL isn’t over
Per Pro Football Focus, the six-foot-five, 333-pound offensive lineman was graded 64th out of 89 tackles last season. He was better as a pass blocker than a run blocker, ranking 50th in pass blocking for tackles.
Borom, 26, was drafted by the Bears in the fifth round of the 2021 draft. He appeared in 47 games and started 27 games for Chicago before joining the Dolphins on a one-year deal worth $2.5 million. He appeared in 16 games and started 11 for Miami.
Borom wouldn’t be an elite get for the Bears in free agency. But he could offer them a reasonable upgrade over Benedet to use as a stopgap before Trapilo eventually returns.
