Bears Emerge as Contender to Land 25-TD Weapon for Caleb Williams

The Chicago Bears and quarterback Caleb Williams have become a legitimate contender in the NFL heading into the 2026 season. After an impressive 2025 campaign, the sky is truly the limit for the team.

Williams exploded onto the scene as a rising superstar late in the season. He started the year off slowly, with many fans and analysts beginning to urge the Bears to consider a change at quarterback. Ben Johnson and company kept their faith in Williams and that faith paid off.

Heading into the 2026 season, Chicago is expecting another leap from Williams. However, the Bears did make the difficult decision to trade star wide receiver D.J. Moore to the Buffalo Bills earlier this offseason. It seems very possible that the team could look to replace him in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft, which is scheduled to begin on Thursday night.

Keeping that in mind, an intriguing option has been suggested for Chicago.

Bears Emerge as Potential Suitor for North Dakota State’s Bryce Lance

John Blair of NFL Mocks believes that Bryce Lance would make a lot of sense for the Bears as a new weapon for Williams.

“The Chicago Bears have made a habit of taking a non-Power Four prospect each year Ryan Poles has been their GM, and all but one of those picks has come from the FCS level. That trend could continue this year with Bryce Lance,” Blair wrote.

“Lance is an impressive athlete at 6-foot-3, 204 pounds with 4.34 speed, and he backed it up with production, earning FCS All-American honors this year and setting an FCS record with 17 touchdown receptions in 2024. Chicago could target the North Dakota State Bison standout in the third round.”

Lance could make sense for Chicago. That being said, the idea of him being available in the third round might be a bit of a stretch.

During the 2025 college season at North Dakota State, Lance put up big production. He caught 51 passes for 1,079 yards and eight touchdowns, averaging a dynamic 21.2 yards per reception. Lance totaled 127 catches for 2,139 yards and 25 touchdowns in his three total seasons, with most of that production coming in 2024 and 2025.

Only time will tell whether or not Lance is on the Bears’ radar. If they are truly interested in bringing in a dynamic playmaker for Williams, they shouldn’t look any further than the Bison standout.
