Chicago Bears Predicted to Land Elite 27-Sack Pass Rusher
The Chicago Bears started off the 2026 NFL Draft with a bang. With the No. 25 overall pick in the first round, they came away with a steal in the form of Oregon Ducks standout safety Dillon Thieneman.
Ryan Poles and the Bears have more work to do on Day 2 of the draft. In the second and third rounds, Chicago has plenty of needs to address.
One clear-cut need heading into the draft came in the pass rushing category. For the Bears’ defense to truly become a strength, they need to get after the quarterback better. Many fans are hoping to see the team address that issue in the second round at pick No. 57.
Barring a trade, Chicago should have ample options to choose from at No. 57. A new prediction would see the Bears land a 27-sack pass rusher with that selection.
Chicago Bears Predicted to Land Illinois Standout Gabe Jacas
Not only would Chicago be bringing in a quality new pass rusher, he would be a familiar name for fans who also root for the Illinois Fighting Illini.
Gabe Jacas has been a leader for the Illini defense in recent years. He has also become one of the more intriguing pass rushers available in the 2026 NFL Draft class.
CBS Sports analyst Josh Edwards released a new Day 2 mock draft. He has Jacas heading to the Bears with the No. 57 overall pick.
“Jacas does not get talked about enough relative to how NFL teams think of him,” Edwards wrote. “There is a lot of confidence projecting him to a starting role, because he is going to shut down any outside runs and turn them back inside. Jacas is a physical player and an asset in the run game.”
During the 2025 college football season for Illinois, Jacas racked up big numbers. He totaled 43 tackles, 11 sacks, three forced fumbles, and a defended pass. Throughout his four-year college career, all with the Illini, he racked up 184 tackles, 27 sacks, seven forced fumbles, and two defended passes.
Jacas has the potential to become a star at the NFL. If he is available when Chicago is on the clock at pick No. 57, it would be no surprise to see the Bears scoop him up.
