Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark

Caitlin Clark is eager to make amends after a forgettable second season with the Indiana Fever. The former Iowa Hawkeyes star suffered multiple injuries in 2025, limiting her to just 13 games throughout the campaign. Not long after the mid-way point of the season, the Fever decided to shut her down for the rest of the year due to a right groin injury.

Clark has since been putting in the work behind the scenes to get herself back to full strength. She remained motivated and steadfast throughout her road to recovery, and she is now 100% healthy heading into the new WNBA season.

Indiana Fever coach sounds off on Caitlin Clark’s work ethic

Clark worked closely with the Fever’s coaching and medical staff throughout her rehab. Assistant coach Briann January was one of the individuals who witnessed Clark’s hard work and determination. January had nothing but high praise for the two-time All-Star as she described Clark’s behavior throughout the offseason.

“Oh man, her work ethic is unmatched,” the assistant coach told reporters during the Fever’s media day on Wednesday. “She was in here working day in, day out.”

January also discussed Clark’s stint with Team USA during the offseason. The 24-year-old made her senior debut for the national squad in the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament in March. Clark announced her return from injury by winning the tournament’s MVP Award. She also led the Americans to a perfect 5-0 record.

“I think the timing of USA Basketball and getting her on the court and playing and ramping her up for the season was perfect,” January continued. “But to see that work in her get healthy, you know, it really changes her game when she’s out there and healthy.”

Fans will get their first taste of Clark back in a Fever uniform and in action on Saturday. Indiana will face the New York Liberty in a preseason matchup. Tipoff from Barclays Center in Brooklyn is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET.
