Caitlin Clark’s injury draws defiant statement from Fever coach Stephanie White
Indiana Fever fans had to hold their collective breath on Saturday as superstar Caitlin Clark dealt with a back injury. The two-time All-Star had to make a trip to the locker room twice during the game as the Fever suffered an opening night loss to the Dallas Wings at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, 107-104.
The good news is that Clark did not sustain any serious injury. The 24-year-old herself said after the game that the trips to the locker room were nothing more than just “getting my back put back in place a little bit.” Clark made it clear that apart from the minor back issue, she feels “great.”

Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White addresses Caitlin Clark’s injury scare
One of the biggest questions head coach Stephanie White faced during her postgame interview was about Clark’s injury status. This is not surprising considering how the 6-foot guard’s health was a major concern last season. Clark played just 13 games in 2025 due to multiple soft tissue injuries.
White, however, seemed unconcerned.
“We wouldn’t have played her 30 minutes if she wasn’t OK,” White told reporters after the game, via Chloe Peterson of the Indianapolis Star.
The Fever coach went on reiterate that there’s no cause for concern and that the tunnel trips were merely precaurionary.
“I think it’s just part of maintaining the body,” White added. “… I mean, look, when we’re all really young, we don’t learn proper mechanics, and then it doesn’t get exposed until something happens, and we’re trying to get her body mechanically the way it needs to go.
“This is gonna be an ongoing thing, and not just her. We’ve had multiple players who have gone back, and we don’t have a blue tent, right, but they’re gonna go back and get it adjusted and make sure that the body’s working.”
Clark should be good to go for Indiana’s next game. This comes in the form of their first road matchup of the season. The Fever will face the Los Angeles Sparks on Wednesday, with tipoff from Crypto.com Arena scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET.
