OTL: Ravens to Play First 3 Games on the Road?
As the real slog of the NFL offseason rolls along, fans across the league patiently wait for Thursday night’s schedule release.
Thursday is almost here. Here’s what we think our 2026 schedule is going to look like

Interestingly, no matter how you cut it, the Ravens’ schedule should be fairly easy compared to years past. I say should be because, as we all well know, strength of schedule means nothing at this point in the year. Further, all games are tough:

Here’s every team’s 2026 NFL strength of schedule based on current projected win totals.
This is a much better way to view strength of schedule because it actually takes offseason moves and roster changes into account.

With the Week 3 matchup in Rio already confirmed, most fans are eager to see who and where Baltimore will play in Week 1. As many try to deduce potential matchups based on other rumors, it’s looking like the Ravens may be hitting the road early and often. Due to potential scheduling conflicts in Baltimore, Weeks 1 and 2 may also see the Ravens as visitors, as Cassie explains below:
Starting on the road? It’s possible. Thursday’s schedule release will have the answers. pic.twitter.com/RszFY4auG0

The positive spin here is that, if that were to be the case, then the Ravens would get a back-loaded home slate, with eight games out of their final 14 played at The Bank.
That said, I would also love an under-the-radar start to the Jesse Minter era to simply help him ease into things.
A low profile 1pm CBS game to start the season? Not mad at that at all

While it’s tough enough to “wait all day for Sunday Night” as it is, it’d be even tougher to sit and wait for the beginning of a new regime in Charm City. I’m in complete agreement with Reeta – Primetime simply isn’t worth the glamour that comes with it:
I do not love primetime games the way others do. My stomach be hurting all day!
— BMORE Reeta (@theNFLchick) May 12, 2026
Luckily, that doesn’t seem to be happening:
The Ravens played in primetime in Week 1 each of the past 2 seasons. Now they might be shut out to start the Jesse Minter era.

TNF: Rams vs. 49ers (in Australia)
SNF: Giants vs. Cowboys
MNF: Broncos vs. Chiefs https://t.co/MLlzsekM2u— Jonas Shaffer (@jonas_shaffer) May 12, 2026
Meanwhile, in the media, much has been made of complaints coming out of Cincinnati about having a home primetime matchup against Baltimore. As far as I’m concerned (and Chris Canty), bring it on:

Far more important, however, is how the Ravens will fare over the course of the season. With that in mind, who’s ready for way-too-early record predictions?
True or False:
The @Ravens will win 12+ games in 2026. pic.twitter.com/1mEunl2iBe

As much as I’d love to see it happen, I’d say 11 games is the sweet spot for a somewhat conservative guess. I could absolutely see Baltimore beating most teams, but feel there’s too much uncertainty at this point in the year. Speaking of uncertainty, ESPN’s Jamison Hensley highlighted some of the biggest questions the Ravens will have to answer heading into the 2026 campaign:
The Baltimore Ravens still have plenty of work to do this offseason to become a championship team this season and beyond.@jamisonhensley breaks down the three biggest questions the Ravens will need to answer to take the next step

Diving deeper into these, I’ll address the OL and Center position first. Again, I agree with Reeta in hoping for the best, but unlike Jordan, feel we have to acknowledge the elephant in the room:
Exactly. Give me the wall. https://t.co/23drYXkNXM
— BMORE Reeta (@theNFLchick) May 11, 2026
The Ravens have a Center … problem is it’s not a “big” name guy who fans know. So they assume we don’t have a Center or say we need one
— Jordan (@OnlyTheRavens) May 12, 2026
The Center may very well be at 1 Winning Drive as we speak, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a massive question mark. The hope will be that improved Guard play will solidify the space around whoever is snapping, but that’ll come down to Vega Ioane and – perhaps more importantly – John Simpson living up to expectations:
“This is home.”@_JohnSimpson on suiting up in purple and black again.https://t.co/FiPfo3Ra6x
— Baltimore Ravens (@Ravens) May 12, 2026
Coaches made expectations for John Simpson clear when bringing him back to Baltimore:
“Their main thing was just bringing that tenacity back, being physical, and trying to be a dominant force.”
Simpson is pumped about Vega Ioane, Coach Ledford, and the O-line’s potential.

Sticking in the trenches, the pending return of DT Nnamdi Madubuike has the potential to make or break the unit. Although I agree with the assessment that this unit is incredibly strong (especially with the addition of Safety depth in K’Von Wallace), it looks a lot different without a potential All Pro up front:

Mike Green
Zion Young

Of course, as things typically go, the season will likely come down to QB Lamar Jackson’s play. I have no doubt he’ll continue to amaze in purple and black, but it’ll be critical that contract extension talks don’t get in the way.
In an ideal world, it’d get knocked out soon, but Femi Ayanbadejo believes it’ll come down to the wire:
My personal opinion is LJ will re-sign during the 2027 off season. Lots of new people and systems. LJ rushes in to nothing. He’s locked in. Wins solves everything. https://t.co/GQ3xppn5Yh
— Femi Devin Ayanbadejo Sr. (@Obafemi30) May 12, 2026
If you’re Jackson, what’s the rush? When you’re expected to match the production highlighted below, time is money:
Lamar Jackson stats predictions for this season
4,200 passing yards
36 passing touchdowns
4 interceptions820 rushing yards
5 rushing touchdownsIf he stays healthy all season i like my odds

Hopefully, the ownership and trust Baltimore put into Jackson across this offseason will pay off with a long-term agreement that shows the QB is equally invested.
